Or, maybe a team among league bottom in 3s and defense used Brogdon to get below the APRON, while simultaneously getting what some of their fans were calling "their best player", who also fits the Scoot/Sharpe timeline.
I agree people don’t realize how good this guy is. He’s a great addition in position of need. Last year in the running for most improved. Guy who guarded other teams best player while still putting up 18 points a game after February. Not to mention a good passer and good rebounder
We traded Dame then Jrue to get basically Brogdon and a couple picks, then dumped the bulk of that to save money. That's not wise handling of assets for a team that needs to build through the draft. And the concept of "best player" and the Wizards doesn't fill me with joy. Those two tend to be mutually exclusive. You want picks from them, not players.
You're missing some assets in your list. 2029 unprotected Bucks pick 2029 unprotected Celtics pick 2028 pick swap with Milwaukee 2030 pick swap with Milwaukee Rob Will Deni (now) I still think we're moving RWIII. And then there's still Camara and Ayton as part of the Dame trade.
Deni runs the offense for the Wizards as Point Forward. Chauncey need to let him run this team and not just wait in the corner for an open 3.
He’s got great potential still and pretty versatile, as well as a very reasonable contract. I’m curious why the Wizards did it?
A declining contract for a 23 year old player who just came off of ~15/7/4 on 50/37/74 does not suck. Trading out a pick in a Draft where we were NOT taking all 4 picks, including a 30+ year old player we were going to move anyway, and a 2nd best pick in a Draft where we have 3 picks....and that 23 year old is a 6'9" wing who is immediately the 2nd tallest rotation player on the Blazers..... I am just fine with that. Add to it, Wizard fan is melting down that they didn't get enough.
Avdija had 13/11/6 when the Wizards rolled Portland in December. It's not just numbers, I kinda remember him getting hustle plays that don't show up in the boxscore.
Young, talented, long, excellent shooting and on a killer contract in exchange for a crappy 2024 pick, a "protected" 2029 frp and an oft injured vet that is of no use to a rebuilding team? Where do I sign?
And Cronin doesn’t have the stones to finish his tank game. He trades for Avdija, an older but probably lesser version of Flagg because he learned after this seasons tank, the ping pong balls don’t always fall your way. He is going to force an Ant, Scoot, Sharpe backcourt. I doubt he tries to move Grant. He signed him. Moving him proves he erred. I could be wrong, but I’m just not getting the vibe that Portland is open for business. I would not be surprised if Thybulle is the starting guard with Ant. I think they will be going for the play in.
One of those picks is from this 2024 draft (#14), which has been panned relentlessly as the worst draft class in a long time. How great a loss is it to give away a pick and not be on the hook for years of guaranteed of salary to someone from the middle of this class? ...& the v.good player (Brogdon) is 31 y/old and has averaged playing in 47 games a season over his last 3 seasons. Very pleased to add the durable young 2 way player on the upswing at this roster's biggest position of need. It may not work out, but I think this was a great roll of the dice STOMP
