Yeah, that's something I'd like to avoid. The amount of pain and suffering that will have to happen for the US to "fall" is almost unimaginable.

Barring nuclear fallout, a natural disaster, or some other country starting mining astroids or some other space based advantage, The US has too many built-in advantages to fail.

No other country is as naturally protected or has the as many natural reasons or the ability to transport as many goods as easily as the US.

I agree. It won't all be roses. But the status quo can't continue for much longer.

Everyone talks about all their advantages but a bunch of nobodies broke into the capital not long ago.

Let's be honest. They were let into the capital.

So what makes you think they won't be let in again the next time?

America will no longer be a democracy; they're ensuring they'll be in power when it turns into a dictatorship. They aren't scared of "the people"; they've got the army, they've got the cops, they've got the militias, they've got all the guns and all the tanks and all the bombs. Cop Cities are just about being prepared, in their eyes. Once enough of us are murdered we will quiet down.

If they are (and especially if that ends up in a successful attempt this time) that will be a terrible thing that will further harm democracy and push us further toward autocracy.

I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm simply saying none of us should be hoping that happens.

This is if the election even happens; I won't put it past the government to start a major international war just so they can declare martial law to ensure the outcome they want.

I'm... not optimistic about 6 months from now.

If disenfranchising voters is the answer to fixing the "system" why are so many Republican states and conservative groups like the Heritage Foundation working to do that very thing? Voting is one of the few things that we can use to make things better for all of us.

And before you give me that both parties are crap arguments, there is another tool that voters have that is effective and independent of the political parties and that is ballot measures. Going out, getting signatures, and getting things on the ballot that we all can vote on.

Democracy is dying. No question. Dems can't even pass the Voter Rights Act because their donors turned it down. When the system isn't working for you or anyone around you, I can see wanting to burn it down. Ask the residents in DC when they voted for Marion Berry.

Not when the choices are basically the same. Same donors in both parties are dictating the policies. Dems give false promises and back off once their donors say otherwise. Check the George Floyd act, Voting Rights act, and $15 minimum wage.

I understand your passion for this Sly. I'd probably feel the same as you if I was part of a generation who accrued assets as well. Would you be saying the same thing to the citizens in Iran who don't bother voting? They figured it out. False choices don't bring about freedom and prosperity. Not anymore.

Mitch McConnell is a donor to the democrats???

The emotional urge to burn it down is understandable, yes.
When has burning it down actually made things better, though?

Bernie Moreno is the Republican candidate trying to flip Senate seat currently held by Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). He held a press conference saying he answers all the tough questions. First question was on abortion. He replied he wasn't there to talk about abortion.

Is it better or worse if you know that he doesn't believe that and is just pandering to his audience for personal gain?
