Are you asking because you want to use 2023-24 salaries to make the trade work? If that's not the case then it doesn't matter. Trades are being announced right now that won't complete until the new league year, just take our Avdija trade for example.

LAL can't trade their '26 pick.

The '25 pick is headed to NOP & the '27 pick is going to UTAH. Earliest available pick to trade is '29

I get ya and I think Grant is overrated to begin with he is a scorer who is allergic to rebounding and for the most part defense but the whole Lakers thing would slightly bug me since i HATE them but if it's good for the Blazers then suck it up -- LOL

I'm asking because the Lakers are a second-apron team after 7/1, so they wouldn't be able to trade for Grant after today (which, I assume, is why these talks are ongoing today) .

Knecht, Vanderbilt, and Hachinura work for me.

I doubt they'd give up both Hachimura and Vanderbilt. I assume it's one or the other plus Vincent

I need at least a 1st or two. The players besides Knecht are worthless to what we're doing.

So there would be some urgency. They can only offer so much.

I think the Lakers would want to send out DLO/Vincent/Knecht and another first.

Who could we flip DLO to?

    GS waived CP3.

So they're out of the picture.

Not completely. They could still want to swap Wiggins for Grant. I don't think they like Wiggins as much anymore.

It would be nice to have someone on the roster that Sharpe could speak Canadian with.

I can't imagine that we'd do that without knowing we have a team that wants him even if it's just for a future second.

Smh, I don’t even like them as a trade partner then. Knecht is not enough incentive for me to trade Grant.

Lakers could be pretty bad in 29. LeBron will be way gone by then.

i also don't see the impetus to move ayton immediately. clingan isn't ready to take over starting duties, especially without other strong vets around him.

i feel there's more pressure to move Grant and/or Ant.

    I guess that’s true.

I was hoping on getting an intriguing young talent back that much still have potential left. Guys that we can bring back for fairly cheap who we are confident can at least play a role. I know we aren’t at the point where we are abundant on picks, but I do think we have so many good young pieces already that we really only need maybe one more BIG piece outside of the ‘25 lotto pick.

So yeah, it’d be cool to get a Lakers ‘29 unprotected 1st. But we could get unprotected ‘26 1st + other picks + Moody for Grant as well (salaries aside, just talking value). Or trying to pry someone from the Rockets. I’m not sure how I feel, but I’m pretty firm on feeling Knecht + ‘29 unprotected isn’t enough.
