JET is the best case scenario (post Vinnie Johnson, at least), because he did it on a title team.

How about Manu from Spurs, obviously skill set slightly different but he excelled off the bench

It could've been, but with Ant nearing his extension window, you could easily dress that up as a negotiating ploy (which it actually could have been).

If I were running things, yes. If Scoot shows the ability to at least be average NBA starter level, then I would adjust my opinion.

Dude needs those reps man. He's very talented and seems very motivated. Experience is the best teacher not watching some dude hog the ball and even while playing with you (that goes for Scoot and Shae) take your reps.

Maybe Chauncey has more control over the situation than I estimate and we'll see a much different Ant next season but is Ant the long term solution off the bench with Scoot and Shae and if not are we doing damage to his trade value if we ask him to shoot less and dominate the ball less?

Keeping Ant around and Jerami if he's not on his way out the door, create a lot of problematic areas that I'm not sure Chauncey is ready to navigate. As always we'll just have to wait and see.

I hope our primary concern isn't wins next season. I hope our primary concern is taking the actions necessary to maximize our chances for a championship years from now.

And hopefully he learns a lot doing it. I would love this season to have the opposite trajectory of last season. We should start the seasons 6-28 and go 15-33 from there on... or something along those lines instead of the reverse.

If Anfernee was half the player Ginobili was I wouldn't dream of trading him

Which is an indictment of the award not a feather in his cap. They literally just look at ppg and give it to the non-starter with the highest.

We either dismiss Ant coming off the bench becomes he won't want to, or we dismiss it because he is not as good as an all-star (Ginobli) who once did. Ant does not need to be an all-star to be effective off the bench for us. He is young and he has a skill that we can always use. If we find someone better off the bench then we move him. It's not like his value is so high right now that we would be foolish to wait.

What's the rush to trade Simons. I think people need to cool it a bit.

Anfernee could easily become the next Damian Lillard, in terms of scoring talent. He's 24 and Dame really hit his stride when he was 26. Also, as of right now, Scoot sucks on both ends of the floor and we have on guarantee that he'll get better.

Ant's value won't go down, it'll only go up (unless he like tears his achilles or something)

Damian Lillard's TS% was 56% when he was 24. And Simons is a much better passer than many on this forum give him credit for.

Blazers Uprise aptly pointed out that Simons was guarded last year like a super-star.

Scoot was better than Ant at defense last season... just think about that for a bit. Scoot also showed a much better ability to facilitate for others on offense last season.

So yeah, Ant is better at going one on five. He's the better scorer obviously. I just worry that Chauncey will want to have Ant on the floor a lot and that Chauncey won't keep Ant from dominating the ball the way he did last season and that will be detrimental to the development of Scoot and Shaedon.

I'm not advocating giving Ant away, I just hope we're shopping him.
