Johnson is 28. This is not the kind of move that Joe wants.

the mean Laker fans think Bronny is faking a knee injury, because he doesn't want to look bad in Summer League.

If LA doesn't want to give up two firsts, I'd do something like:

Rui/Vincent/2029 FRP unprotected and then 2 swaps.

You wouldn't take both theirs and the Clippers 25 2nd rounders instead of swaps?

Maybe. I'm just not entirely married to needing two firsts.

Portland has 3 picks in 2029 with the 2nd best already promised to Washington. Unless that pick is named specifically as the 2nd best of Portland, Boston or Milwaukee’s pick, then a 2029 pick from the Lakers could end up being the 2nd best — which would be BAD. A pick swap in 2029 also needs to NOT go to Washington.

If the above is actually an issue, then an unconditional 1st round pick in 2028 or 2030 and pick swaps in the other year and 2031 should do it … IMHO.

They can't trade their 2028 FRP, they owe 2027 to the Jazz.

Almost definitely the terms of the Washington trade were the second most preferable of Portland's, Milwaukee's and Boston's 2029 first round picks. If we add an additional pick after that trade there would be no way that it would be included in the trade that preceded it. That would create madness.

I do think it might be smart to try and get a 2029 swap with the least desirable of ours, the Celts and Bucks' picks and then just get the Lakers 2030 FRP.

    Okay, then …

2 pick swaps — one in 2029 with the least desirable of the 3.
If a pick swap is not made, a 2nd rounder is conveyed by the Lakers.

1 unconditional 1st rounder from the Lakers in 2030 or 2031.

Lakers can say they only gave up one pick and the swaps may never happen.
Portland can say they got 1 pick and may improve 2 other 1st rounders (or at least receive 2 2nd rounders, instead of the swaps)

Post it in OT if you want to post about politics. There are plenty of threads there for it.

Are you sure on this second part? I thought 2032 would be the first draft picks that may be frozen - which would be for teams above the 2nd apron this year in 2024-25.

Don't understand this logic at all... Lakers pick if unprotected could be anywhere from #1-#30.

Maybe you are thinking if we acquire the Lakers pick it could against our wishes go to Washington? It would not - that trade is already done and it specifically included only PDX/BOS/MIL picks. If the Blazers now acquire the Lakers pick that would be completely independent of Washington.

    You are correct.

Picks will not be frozen unless the team is over the 2nd apron 3 of the last 4 years.

Ok, so would that be a 2032 pick frozen if a team was over the 2nd apron 2024-25,2023-24,2022-23?

I can't think of any teams that would even be at risk of this, LAC and GS probably duck 2nd apron this year, maybe Phoenix has been above.
