Biden is only under a microscope when he goofs. He had an unscripted no teleprompter question and answer with union leaders and was very on point. Well received. Not on front page of New York Times.
Remember when Obama said 56 states? And Republicans chortled he doesn't know how many states in the union? People who have to talk all day slip. Newscasters, sportscasters, clergy, politicians. Difference, everyone knew Obama knew how many states so it was a tiny ripple. Any Biden booboo is end of the world.
I didn't think he had a great press conference, but he got his main talking points across. ..he called VP Harris VP Trump early on but didn't correct himself and that's the only gaffe I picked up on pretty much...others he corrected himself quickly enough. At this point I want Joe to beat Trump and then retire from office early in his second term from exhaustion..giving Harris the job for the remaining 3 years.
I think this is the most rational path forward. It was a real mixed bag of a press conference. Trump can use the VP gaffe for a campaign ad or something, but the rest of it sort of confirmed my immediate thoughts after the debate that Biden was overprepared that night. At the end of the presser, Biden said that he would really only step down for Kamala if he was getting destroyed in internal polls. That's a downgrade from an act of God, at least, and sets up Harris as a last minute replacement if things get desperate.
Is there any universe in which Trump could give detailed answer on NATO history, China policy, industrial policy? BTW in 2008 when running for VP there was a web site devoted to Biden's verbal flubs which was actually pretty funny.
Even better than that is the time that Trump confused the woman he raped (you know, E. Jean Carroll, who he said wasn't his type) with his one ex-wife Marla Maples and didn't recognize his other ex-wife, Ivana, in the same photo at all. And that was for a court deposition. Too bad I don't have footage of that one.
Um, Tim Apple...blaming Nikki Haley when he meant Nancy Pelosi, his *OWN* doctor, THIGH-land, "oranges" instead of origins...I could go on.
