Open the description under the video on desktop and you'll see a "view transcript" button near the bottom of the description. It will open a window beside the video with an AI generated transcript which is nearly incomprehensible because it doesn't distinguish between all the people speaking.

    Here's what ChatGPT summarized

Detailed Summary of Chauncey Billups' Statements
    1. Player and Team Dynamics:

    • Chauncey Billups acknowledged the defensive contributions of certain players, suggesting that their presence allows teammates to take more risks defensively. He mentioned that while some players excel in the regular season, their effectiveness might be diminished in the playoffs due to the changing dynamics and increased focus on individual matchups(chauncey).
    2. Role of Veterans:

    • Billups expressed his disagreement with the trend of phasing out veteran players in favor of younger ones. He emphasized the critical role veterans play in mentoring and maintaining team culture. He believed that veterans' experience and guidance are invaluable, especially in developing younger players(chauncey).
    3. Player Trades and Development:

    • He discussed the trade of Malcolm Brogdon, expressing happiness for Brogdon's opportunity to continue his career in a more suitable environment. Billups noted that while Brogdon was the best point guard on the team, the team's rebuilding phase necessitated prioritizing the development of younger players. This meant reducing Brogdon's role, which Billups felt was unfair to him given his abilities and contributions(chauncey).
    4. Historical vs. Modern Teams:

    • Billups compared his 2004 Pistons team to modern teams like the Warriors. He believed his team could have matched up well against the pre-KD Warriors due to their defensive strategies and versatility in switching defenses. However, he acknowledged that the Warriors with Kevin Durant would have posed a more significant challenge(chauncey).
    5. Defense and Strategy:

    • He highlighted his team's defensive strengths, recalling how they were able to hold teams to historically low scores, a feat he believes is unlikely to be replicated in the modern era. He attributed this success to the team's size, versatility, and ability to switch on defense effectively(chauncey).
    6. Memorable Moments:

    • Billups reflected on memorable performances, such as LeBron James scoring 25 straight points against the Pistons. He noted that this occurred after Ben Wallace left the team, implying that Wallace's defensive presence could have made a significant difference in the game's outcome(chauncey).
    7. Coaching Philosophy and Challenges:

    • As a coach, Billups discussed the need to redefine what winning means in a rebuilding phase. He focuses on the progress and development of his young players rather than just the final score. Billups emphasized the importance of maintaining pride and effort, even in tough losses, and being honest with his players about their performance(chauncey).
    8. Adjusting to Team Changes:

    • Billups recounted the transition from coaching a veteran-laden team to a rebuilding one after significant changes in team personnel and management. He stressed the need to adapt to these changes and maintain a focus on long-term development rather than immediate success(chauncey).
Overall, Chauncey Billups provided a comprehensive view of his perspectives on team dynamics, the role of veterans, the impact of player trades, and his coaching philosophy. He also shared insights from his playing career and how those experiences influence his approach as a coach.

Chauncey Billups discussed Scoot Henderson in a positive light, expressing optimism about his upcoming season. He acknowledged that Scoot struggled last year, which was challenging for him. Billups related to this struggle, as it mirrored the start of his own career, and he believes this experience will ultimately benefit Scoot. Over the summer, Scoot has been working hard on necessary aspects of his game and has been showing improvement. Billups expects that Scoot will have a much better year, with increased confidence and performance on the court(chauncey).

He also said something about Clingan being really talented, but having a long way to go. (my vague recollection, if anyone is about to listen, please listen for an exact quote, and post it)

how did I walk how did I walk into this [ __ ] man yes sir speaking of the devil you heard him talking about you and 2
    0:06
minutes later you walk up here you are how you feeling Coach man I feel good I feel good I'm just just chilling man
    0:11
it's hot as hell got off that course word what you shoot 83 oo 83 wasn't too
    0:19
bad you play for the tips no no I'm like a 12 handicap you not supposed to play from the tips when you
    0:25
were 12 oh you a tiger in the woods tiger hood hood okay was that view today
    0:30
you never know what I'm going score you never you know what I'm saying yeah how was that view out there
    0:36
that view is crazy right with this beautiful it's crazy that's your first time playing it I played it last summer league uh couple times yeah it nice man
    0:44
oh man it was beautiful course best course might be I play no it's beautiful it's y got out there right now me
    0:51
and bonsy probably a little better than I am he probably look better than I am right now right okay he probably listen
    0:57
man I'm humble I'm humble yeah now bons is good B is good thank you I appreciate that me and him got out there on that
    1:03
course who taking that me yeah man if if she get out there on that course with me
    1:08
I'm going just have him driving me around yeah for yeah he he he'll be doing what he do out here that's
    1:14
all all day all day that's what I got to do but no thanks for stopping by though chance you know it's uh it's definitely
    1:21
a blessing you know what I'm saying and congratulations to you again for the head coaching gig out in Portland and I
    1:27
just want to ask you one thing with that so with you being a former player uh you know having the many accolades that you
    1:35
have how do you switch it over to coach mode and take it from like player
    1:41
personal mode and you go into coach mode what's what's the difference with that you know she it's different man
    1:48
because um the biggest difference for me and I'm sure y'all felt that way when y'all
    1:54
coach too as as players is like as a player I just felt so control because I
    2:01
can actually control the game especially being a point guard as a coach I got to
    2:07
teach my guys how to do that so like I can feel what's going on I can see
    2:13
what's going on and I can share it with them but they might still not know how
    2:19
to do it you know so that's probably the biggest struggle you know um the biggest
    2:25
difference I guess is I could actually control the game when I was playing but here I can't control it as much you
    2:32
know I just kind of have my ideas and try to teach the guys what to do and what to look
    2:37
for but it's it's kind of out of your hands you know uh to a certain degree
    2:44
yeah what kind of struggle has that been like relinquishing that control knowing that you can't do it all the way you
    2:49
used to as a player well it's different but it hasn't been too much of a struggle because I know I can't play no
    2:54
more you know so it Ain struggling with that yeah it a it ain't like I could be like let me I can't play no more so like
    3:03
it's it's it's been forced you know uh upon me but you know I love it's Beauty
    3:10
in it you know which I love to be honest with you just to be able to teach you know I felt like coaching is like it's
    3:18
what I was supposed to do you know it's what I'm designed to do U and I coach kind of like I played you know I was
    3:24
like coaching when I was playing you know so it's not that much of a difference in terms of that but me
    3:31
knowing that I'm just over with like I can't play helps me you know be resigned
    3:36
to that fact yeah yeah yeah you been to deberes yet oh man all the time they
    3:45
baptized you he did playing in Detroit that's steak and eggs joint right I've
    3:50
never been to Portland I only know it because he told me that's the best steak and eggs world world crazy yeah real
    3:56
deal it is he told he it's facts you know what trying I'll be worried about you in Portland man because I know you
    4:03
know it's tough on you you know you're not winning the game you know winning like you want to but I know you got a plan and you know you're gonna to turn it around but I know how hard they can
    4:09
be on you out there how have you survived you know what I'm saying with the critics and all that stuff in Portland because you know they used to
    4:15
franchise obviously winning something and then you they caught you they put you in a situation where yall kind of rebuilding a little bit how have you
    4:21
been able to deal with that yeah you know it's not easy man you know cuz everything I do is all about winning
    4:28
yeah you know and the thing about it is I've had to kind of readjust what winning is yeah in
    4:35
these circumstances and it's not the final score it's like okay are my young
    4:41
guys getting better you know um are they starting to execute differently better are they getting more confidence yeah so
    4:47
I've had to readjust my lens on like what a win is yeah those nights because you're probably not going to win the
    4:53
final score mhm too young to do that but obviously as you say
    5:00
fans and the public and the pundits they don't see that they see the final
    5:06
score um so it's it it's tough you know cuz I'm all about winning everything I
    5:11
ever did and played for and it's all about winning so that part has you know
    5:18
been difficult at times but I know where we at yeah you know um and I've had to like kind of reshape myself in that term
    5:27
to say all right we not ready for that part yet M but this is a win this is a win right this is a loss yeah you
    5:35
definitely coming with that coach's mentality cuz for real bro sound like a CO look look no playing playing with him
    5:43
let me tell you [ __ ] what are you telling y'all now it's all out the
    5:48
window tell more about that it's all out the window exactly that's what that's what I'm saying it's so different right
    5:54
right right so different so if y'all just got smacked by 30
    6:00
M what's what's what's that what's that coach Billet speech like in the locker room well one I'm big on Pride you know
    6:07
what I'm saying we got beat by 60 last year twice oh y almost broke our record so not 30 double that 60 but I'm big on
    6:16
Pride like sometimes y'all know y'all played it long enough you going to have them games when you get you just get cracked just is what it is you going to
    6:22
do that to other people but I'm big on like how you lose M we ain't laying that
    6:30
bro or I'm going find somebody else like I a I don't believe in that yeah so like I'm big on that like how we did it and
    6:37
if I see cast lay down we G to talk about that you already know yeah showing it we
    6:43
talking about it we it's on and so you know we going to lose them by 30s and [ __ ] sometimes just because
    6:51
team are better than us you know or we just had a rough night but I'm coming in and I keep it real like I'm a true I'm
    6:57
I'm an honest coach like I ain't make us feel cool and N bro like we was
    7:04
weak we was weak like we we laid what we doing right so I tell the truth I'm
    7:09
honest with my dudes they respect that too they need it actually yeah that's what they need yeah cuz everybody ain't
    7:15
like that everybody kissed their ass all the way a and high school and college yeah a going keep hating on a
    7:21
but you know CH I was real happy for you when you got the job but then I was just like man when you lose a franchise guys
    7:28
like Dame Lillard yeah and you was like I felt so sorry for you how do you make that like when you lose somebody like
    7:34
Dame yeah how how did you you know move forward how was that adjustment for you just like okay like man what's next what
    7:40
we going to do yeah it was tough I mean you know when I took the job you know it was a veteran Laden team and I was
    7:47
hoping to like try to take them to the next level had Dame and CJ and nkit and
    7:53
Covington and Norman pow like we had a vet team team mhm and then shoot about 3
    7:58
or four months later it changed yeah you know they they changed GMS we made some moves we changed course
    8:06
year or so after that we Mo Dame so you know I've had to kind of just be nimble with all of that stuff and understand
    8:13
like I can't beat myself up when we lose because we not set up to win yeah I'm
    8:20
not a americ worker you know so right so I just I be I'll be having to like you
    8:26
know finesse that with myself man yeah so chance I um I got a chance to see you guys this year with sitting Courtside
    8:32
when you guys were playing in Detroit versus the Pistons and we know Detroit went through a heavy you know heavy
    8:37
period as well so two young teams you know kind of going at it and what I noticed was and I I want you to speak to
    8:43
this or maybe get an answer from you on this is you were incredibly active on
    8:48
the sidelines yeah and like active dapping your guys up high-fiving them
    8:54
encouraging them something that you don't really see often from you know from coaches at that level now now is
    9:00
that something that you do regularly is that something because of the youth is that your style or could you speak to that a little bit cuz it was something
    9:06
that I hadn't really seen no it's my thing it's just it's it's my thing we got a young team you know um we got a
    9:12
young team and you know we always talk about talking and you know big man talking I always use Sheed as an example
    9:19
okay of one of the best bigs ever that talk like as a point guard I'm guarding
    9:25
the ball I can only see my man mhm the big man can see the whole thing and so I
    9:32
was never guessing like where the screen was coming when she was on the floor I knew where it was coming I could hear
    9:38
them right so I'm always like preaching that but our guys are not that good at it so I I do it as an example like I'm
    9:46
over there talking to them as a coach to try to teach them okay okay scream boom
    9:52
boom he coming to the I'm I'm actually doing that to teach them this is how you communicate so most coaches don't do
    9:58
that when but they've also never been in a position where they did that for a living either you know so I have to do
    10:06
those type of things when you got young kids out there and then I got to keep them motivated like they come out the game I'm I'm showing them love or I'm
    10:12
you know I'm I'm speaking their Lang I got to do yeah no that what I saw that's what I saw so and I love that about it
    10:18
by the way yep okay yeah no that's good that's good that's definitely something that's different in the league you don't see that so it was it was good enjoying
    10:25
you know it kind of brought me back to when you were playing right it was like we in Detroit right I'm like man this is
    10:30
like you know we going to Time Capsule like yeah that was good though that was good how do you feel about what you've
    10:36
seen from the team so far this week um well we had a training camp in Portland it was cool we drafted the big
    10:43
kid Donovan kingan from Yukon I think it's going to be good he's a good defensive player um still really raw and
    10:50
young you know uh so got a long way to go but other than that like our other
    10:55
couple young guys didn't play you know Scoops not playing and shayen and so you
    11:01
know that would have been totally different when we had our guards out there playing for sure so we got a lot
    11:06
of young dudes um that are out there playing right now that I think they're doing okay we got beat Yesterday by San
    11:13
Antonio um we fought hard but that I like that I really like that kid Castle
    11:19
though from San Antonio Castle yeah good good a problem like be a problem I like
    11:25
him you mention scoot didn't play but uh what have you seen from him this summer like what do what do you expect from him
    11:30
this year I I'm I think sco's going to have a good year this year you know um he struggled last
    11:36
year it was a lot for him it really was a lot for him and to me I take that like
    11:41
it's perfect because that's kind of how I started my career so I can really help scoop he been working this summer on the
    11:48
things that are really necessary for him to like take the next step you know he been watching like a lot he's just been
    11:54
doing a lot and I think that he's going to be much better for us you you know coming around this year his confidence
    12:01
will be much better you know I'm looking forward to him doing it but I really think that he needed what happened to
    12:09
him last year right you know and most people probably around him wouldn't agree with that but right as somebody
    12:16
that went through it I know that he needed that you know um like she said these dudes are ushered into the league
    12:23
now with with no don't have to fight for stuff you know at they just kind of let
    12:29
him rock and roll well he learned something about himself you know that he got a fight for and he is a scrapper you
    12:36
know so I like how he's attacked that adversity right let me ask you this so
    12:43
speaking to that you know we were talking about a lot about back in the day you know what I mean and having she
    12:49
was talking about how he had veterans and he was comparing that to you know some of the young kids today being a
    12:54
veteran to him when he's working with the young guys so having a squad not full of
    12:59
veterans who takes that role do you have to take that role as a coach you looking at them really looking at them okay so
    13:07
again another hat that I got to wear sometimes I'm I'm OG I'm big bro yep um
    13:14
old head vet okay and then I'm coach so like I got to like walk that line with
    13:20
them but when you have a team that's as young as ours you know you can't have
    13:26
babies raising babies yeah how how they going to raise up you know how they going to grow so I do have to take that
    13:32
on a lot of times um and again like that's something that that I I take I take pride in that
    13:39
though I mean you choosing to do that because that's not the norm in the league no you're not going to have coaches no you know coaches go this way
    13:45
players go this way regardless young or whatever so what is it about you why are you choosing to go that route because
    13:53
well because I got to find like I got to find the beauty in this because we lose we losing
    13:59
so like if I'm if I'm banking everything on that it's going to be all bad so like
    14:04
I gotta find them wins and I gota out how I can actually impact these dudes
    14:10
while they on their way up right and that be that be the type of stuff that I got to do okay hey wh why do you think
    14:17
the veteran the veteran guys you know like back when we was in the league you going to have guys 13 14 15th year in the league still hanging on why do you
    14:23
think the league is phased those guys out because we know how important they are like you know what I'm saying Rashid said it earlier you know you got them
    14:29
best teaching you life stuff that's going to help you you know what I'm saying towards in during your career and you know change your mindset you know
    14:36
Bon I really thought I can't remember what year it was but that was really when kind of the
    14:43
league changed um to me and it really hurt the league and it hurt the young
    14:49
guys when those backups when those I don't know Kevin oi's and Jac bonds and
    14:56
T L's and all of those veterans plus guys that like they're not there to
    15:02
really play and carry the team but they there to raise them young pups yeah well
    15:07
when they took them dudes out of the locker room and started replacing them with the 19 and 20 year
    15:13
olds well it made it tough because your starters is 23 yeah and now they 19 now
    15:19
who going to raise the 23 year old your old head is 25 so like you see like you
    15:25
know Miami just got off of it when they did it with UD they I mean that was incredible for them to keep him around
    15:31
like that for that long yeah right you see teams starting to like kind of keep Taj Gibson around yeah you know like I
    15:39
just believe that most teams that are young should have one or two of those
    15:45
type of guys to just help let me ask you I think maybe anybody can comment on
    15:51
this but you know you guys remember it used to be a 12-man roster yeah and then
    15:56
I think 2005 it went to 15 mhm and then now then we went to two ways now we have
    16:03
three two-ways and so now you have such a large roster yeah and the vet you know
    16:08
the vet minim vet minimum is you know two and a half million where a g a two-way guy is at about 500,000 right so
    16:17
you think maybe that may have had played a part into you know kind of the Vets phasing out well to me in my opinion
    16:25
when you got when you have three two ways well that could be those it has to be
    16:31
those young guys because they can't have more than three years of experience anyway so right that would make it even
    16:37
better to at the end of the end of that 15 man roster for 14 and 15 to just be
    16:43
bets and culture Builders right you since you already got the three guys it should make it even easier to do that
    16:50
you know but I guess it's not so easy yeah I think in my opinion I think it
    16:55
was the contracts um you know we had a lot of a lot of big big stars make some some big
    17:02
money you know um and I think what it was was that that minimum exception that
    17:08
that mid level exception excuse me those guys I think they were the ones who was
    17:14
like you know let's let's just say like like the I'm going back a little bit with this one like the Otis thorps or
    17:20
you know like the John Sally as we said they're crucial to the team yeah but
    17:27
for the GMS the people upstairs that don't make sense you know what I'm saying like oh if if I got I could spend
    17:34
this 10 million or this 12 million on on a different player or a younger player to do this or that so I think that's how
    17:40
they got rid of that whole veteran because it was either and they wanted it to be big contracts and the little
    17:48
contracts and then mainly the little contracts is more of your you know your first second third year guys and then
    17:54
you know of course your big contracts is your stars or the mega Stars depending on a team yeah that's that's bringing in
    18:01
that bread but I think that's in my opinion how they ease the veterans out
    18:06
of this game you got any thoughts on it no taking over your job keep it going keep it going no I
    18:14
don't agree with nothing hey we we look we never opinion that's why we
    18:19
never ask for bons opinion uh we talking about vet coach you lose a guy like Malcolm Brogden straighted out how do
    18:26
you how do you move forward we're talking again the importance of that you lose one of those guys how do you move
    18:31
forward well to me um I'm happy for Malcolm you know because when you
    18:37
rebuilding like we are mhm he's the best point guard on our team right but since
    18:42
we're rebuilding I got to bring him off the bench wow I got a raise scoop I got
    18:48
Anthony so for me as a dude that did this I'm hoping that they move Malcolm
    18:54
because it's only right for him it's not fair to him that he's sit behind these young pups you know what I'm say in
    19:01
situation yeah he's still in his prime he can still really go help somebody he was the Sixth Man of the Year the prior
    19:07
when we got him previous season yeah so I feel good that we moved Malcolm you know so he can go play and go get some
    19:13
more money and do his thing you know what I mean because we not in that space where we trying to go after it so like
    19:22
I'm I'm happy that they did that you know um right but again I'm I'm the real one like I I see this thing differently
    19:29
than most coaches and people see it I'm a player I'm always going to be a player
    19:34
so I'm happy that it happened yeah Mal he's a good player too
    19:39
hell yeah Malcolm is really good man winner too I saw him other day at the gym he was so excited he so excited he
    19:45
was very excited excited to see you besides that oh okay besides that yeah you know like we said it's that new life
    19:52
you know what I'm saying when when you get traded and and you going to that better team or that playoff team hey you
    19:57
get get that extra pep in your step something different he going to Washington right
    20:02
Washington he going have up team too CH a new face you'll be
    20:09
happy too because you got money to get yeah you want to come off the bench on a
    20:14
developing team or you want to be starting on one oh yeah that part they still so that's why you're happy yeah oh
    20:20
definitely but they still a 25 win team last year what they went last year 2 yeah they was they was down there with
    20:27
us yeah yeah say so might as well go to Detroit hey come on [ __ ] we can't be
    20:33
having Detroit we can't be having no Detroit slander on here man can we ask him can we ask him the question the
    20:40
Draymond question go ahead you anything you know we've been debating about the Draymond uh him and Draymond been going
    20:46
back and forth yeah I've been seeing that what what's your thoughts on that I think I think we would have had a tough
    20:54
time with the KD team okay that's the 17 team right yeah I don't I don't know but
    20:59
whenever KD was there okay yeah I think we had a it would have been a tough one with them right but them other
    21:07
teams we' have bon them the non
    21:12
K and I and I and I have respect I love them all yeah I I love all them I'm big
    21:18
fans of all of them so I ain't like on that but nah the prek KD title team and
    21:24
the post KD title team y'all handle them watched them what I watched them wow D I'm roll basket I'm rolling I love
    21:33
all of them right KD W would have been tough yeah for sure what would he have
    21:39
did with Draymond Green come on man that's his little brother man what would you have done to
    21:45
your little brother oh domination okay y average 86 points a game huh y average
    21:50
86 points a game a different coach that's how that's how the game was played this a different era coach I couldn't score we we scored enough to
    21:57
beat whoever you was on many how many points how many points we to beat whoever you was on like this I like we
    22:03
used to own every team you played for before stop we us to wait before when any when
    22:09
you when you was in Minnesota we used to kill y'all are you talking about when I wasn't starting and all
    22:16
that Detroit y'all was tough you some them Portland teams was nice though I ain't Li y was tough in Detroit I ain't going to lie them Portland team we used
    22:22
still beat the life out of y'all when we saw Y in Minnesota yeah oh when I was when I was playing like the Denver
    22:27
Nuggets man man please everybody beat the life out yeah man come on man but when you got when you got that whip your
    22:34
CH you poked your chest out you definitely poked the chest out hey yeah
    22:39
you got to everybody talk about that she talking about man they didn't score a lot of points they ain't this and that
    22:45
that's true we played that way but we didn't let y'all score a lot of points x no y games be 69
    22:51
65 triple over time and I was telling them they too little that that whole
    22:57
team too little if if you look at our team they got the 2017 I would say they like oh well Steph Steph would do this
    23:04
Steph KD would do that yo y'all don't know how we play Team defense like we not just going and sit there and let
    23:10
them guys keep coming off of the screen shooting threes or keep coming off no we shutting that [ __ ] down and see that see
    23:15
that's been a lot cuz this debate happens a lot yeah one of the biggest things that I say what rules are we
    23:22
playing I say it don't matter you can't say say either way me it matters though
    23:29
because if we can't do what we do it takes away a little bit of what what it
    23:34
is but you know the difference is though we had as a team we had a higher
    23:40
IQ than that team so we could we could play we could play in this era because think about it I can't touch you coming
    23:47
across the middle you coming to post up from the other side and I can't give you that forearm shiver well it applies to
    23:53
them too so if I'm coming across the middle about to post Draymond little ass
    23:58
up or whoever else they got yo y'all can't hit me and my and my skill set is
    24:03
higher I'm not going to come all the way across the paint I'm going stop right there in front of the basket him buil oh for sure you know what I'm saying it's
    24:10
it's it's a I think we had a higher skill set so that's why for me I say we
    24:15
could have beat them in either era we already know they couldn't deal with the physicality but that's why I say in any
    24:21
era because again we ain't just G to let Steph and KD come off and shoot up all them tramps yeah but a nobody let
    24:31
in the words of Coach Damon STM what am I about to say threes beat you twos don't okay I wouldn't shoot enough
    24:38
threes bro that's because that's because you bon just think about it okay
    24:45
honestly if I played in this era where the point guard could shoot 15 threes a game
    24:53
bro come on man like come on if this dude could shoot 10 12 threes a
    25:00
game what is going to happen but that that's what I'm saying y'all wasn't playing like that though we because the
    25:06
game went like that our games though it
    25:11
toates that's too easy during our era we played against better scorers like and
    25:17
don't get me wrong KD can score the ball Steph's could score the ball but look at all look at all the other guys we played
    25:23
against bro like yo no we ain't going for a whole lot of that [ __ ] man like
    25:28
like I ain't going to lie to you I I wouldn't have had a lot of fun chasing the [ __ ] out of Steph I'm telling you
    25:34
right now that's Rip's job oh man I wouldn't had fun with that I would have definitely put rip on him for sure and
    25:41
then I would have just been you stuck with Clay you want clay yeah I'm bump I'm bumping the ground I'm yeah we we do
    25:46
that one let me ask you this though do you think the spacing because they play so far out their ranges so far out do
    25:55
you think that it would have put you guys in a more of a little spindle if you will from the standpoint of your defensive strategy I don't because what
    26:01
one thing we could do and we had crazy size is switch everything we could switch everything
    26:08
okay B can guard point guards them bigs ain't really backing me down like we had
    26:14
a switchable team where all them coming off the screen man we just switching
    26:19
that I I really don't think that it clay would have definitely been definitely
    26:24
been a problem oh they would have been a problem but what y don't know about they would have been a problem I know yeah no no
    26:31
doubt that part right there I know you would have made him probably would have put they
    26:37
probably would have put Steph on rip though him chasing but you I wouldn't but you would have found a way to get
    26:42
that screen and roll to get that switch back you would have found a way to get that switch back 100% if I know you
    26:47
believe it yeah man it would have been it would have been so much fun man turn one
    26:53
right it would have been so much fun man that would have been awesome that would have been been awesome man is any other
    27:00
alltime teams you think would give you like you said the KD team that'd be a battle any other alltime teams you feel
    27:06
like yall watching any other alltime team right I know that's I know that's way you feel that's just how I felt supposed to feel like that how supped to
    27:13
feel I was that confident in the things we did and then on top of it one thing
    27:18
that we did as a team that will NE never be broken in the NBA again when we held
    27:23
what teams yeah under um look at Cole look at yeah seven teams under what was it 60 70
    27:32
points that would never happen again never that that don't happen at halftime now at all yeah at all so yeah that's
    27:40
why I say like we could we could beat anybody I what about when LeBron kind of went what was that a 24 in a row 25
    27:47
straight 25 straight even the sunshin okay okay okay he went crazy but what
    27:54
what most people don't take into consideration is that was post Ben
    28:01
Wallace we have we have been then Ben left he was right Chicago yeah y'all see
    28:08
all them highlights he was he was doing that to me and rip and Tay and he was
    28:13
coming in there I was maxill down there that wasn't Ben Wallace okay okay not to say that he couldn't I mean he went
    28:19
crazy but Ben changes that was one of the craziest games I ever seen as we was talking about a few weeks ago that
    28:25
defensive presence yeah you know what I'm saying saying he got he got that defensive presence that we all said
    28:31
mutumbo had like you already know like [ __ ] I better not go down here with this [ __ ] cuz de going to start the break with that [ __ ] yeah right so he a real
    28:38
defensive player of the year he's not the Rudy no no he he ain't a goldbert he not a go he ain't a goldber y'all
    28:45
crazy he going to win number five next year and you still no respect oh no the next 10 going to wimy that's over with
    28:51
that's over with already decided yeah it's over we had this debate to W and they were talking about in the playoffs
    28:57
that Gober could have been a liability in some situations and he's Defensive Player of the Year how does that go in
    29:02
the same sentence I I struggle with it too bonsy um like I my first year coaching I was
    29:11
with the Clippers and we played Utah he was in Utah yeah and we literally like
    29:16
he don't get me wrong he's a great defender MH but he's not as versatile as like the Ben Wallace's gotta so he can
    29:25
be played off the floor with some of this spacing m right and it's shooting which is why I
    29:30
say our team you can't play Nobody off the floor because you could switch everybody but I get away from our team
    29:37
with Rudy you know you we attacked him the whole
    29:43
series and he's a great defensive player don't get me wrong but you don't just attack great defensive players right you
    29:50
don't even have that mentality you don't even go after from going away from them
    29:56
get him out to play mhm so like that's the difference in today's game a little
    30:01
bit is like yeah he's he's great at The Rim he plays hard he can block shots and
    30:07
stuff but like in space it's trouble and like in pick and rolls you just attack you could you could just go
    30:13
after him you know so I struggle with that too yeah but he is a good defensive
    30:19
player don't get me wrong got but let me ask you this what about maybe I'm sorry not to cut you off chance maybe that his
    30:26
presence alone yeah all ow them to maybe gamble cheat do other things defensively
    30:31
because they know they have him around the and so now from a team concept he affects the whole game possibly could be
    30:38
in in that defensive player because guess what I get to play over the top I get to gamble I get to shoot things of
    30:45
that nature and he's great at that he's great at that until you get
    30:50
deeper till you isolate and put him on island good offensive players and they
    30:55
make him come out no doubt and you got to be in coverage right that's when it gets regular season I can understand why
    31:03
he be defensive player of the year yeah get deeper in them playoffs get tricky
    31:08
right I'm glad you saying this bips you know because I need some new how you
    31:14
feeling especially with this one over here already taking applications
    31:20
watching yeah we taking applications see my name up here I'm just a visitor told if you zoom in it's real real like I'm
    31:26

    31:32

basically said “we drafted that young big… Donovan… should be an amazing defensive presence, has a long way to go but should be really good”

it was a cool interview I caught it last night.

Wallace stayed pretty quiet during this podcast. Near the end, they asked Coach Billups to tell a crazy Sheed story, but Chauncey pleaded his 5th amendment.

Yeah, The last thing I want is our young guys learning how to hog the ball in ISO while not rebounding.

This kind of makes sense when talking about Brogdon, but do Grant and Simon contribute to "mentoring and maintaining team culture."?

Not if the team culture that you want is a winning one.

Watched it last night - Chauncey came across very well. Sounds like if he had his druthers we'd sign an Ed Davis-type vet or two. I think he's kidding himself about easily beating the 73-win Warriors, though. (Bonzi reminding him that his Blazers dominated every pre-Pistons Chauncey team.)

Apparently Brogdon was really happy to be traded. TO WASHINGTON? Sheesh.

They both ball hog, at least Jerami plays hard on some defensive possessions and I'm sure there are places to point out his defensive excellence on video.

Nah... these aren't the dudes you want as mentors for on court culture. There are plenty of high character vets who would sign for the min or be filler in a trade who can teach guys the ways of being pros off the court. We don't need Jerami and Ant fucking up our offensive flow and Ant fucking up our defense.

I don't actually think Washington will be tanking this season. Their rotation of Malcolm, Poole, Kuzma, Sarr, Valanciunas, Holmes, Bagley, Coulibali, Bey, Kispert, Davis, George, Carrington has a ton of length, speed, and scoring along with guys who control the paint and have the ability to stretch the floor on offense.

Depends on who the mentor is.

Interesting if you think about it like a stat in a 2k game. Which player has the highest mentor rating? I would say Lebron probably has the highest, he knows the game and all the kids coming into the league on his team are going to respect him and listen to him because he is Lebron James. Dame would be up there in the top 3-5. CP3 probably pretty good too. Think about CP3 with the Spurs. I have no doubt that is the main reason the Spurs wanted him. He's at that stage of the career as well. CP3 has had an interesting career. Superstar player, chased a ring playing with other superstars, but never won one. CP3 is evidence of how elusive an NBA championship can be.

Spurs are going to be back into perennial playoff contention for the foreseeable future. As soon as next season.
