Does that come off the scholarship?

No, but I'm guessing that scholarships will now be taxed. Image getting a scholarship to Harvard and paying taxes on that.

That effin' sucks... Not sure how we're going to afford that.

    *Edit*
It seems like it might be okay.

    https://www.taxnotes.com/research/federal/usc26/117

It seems like they could tax you, but not that they'd necessarily have to. Talk about an unpopular move that would be incredibly damaging to the country... But I guess the supreme court doesn't have to worry about that...

BTW, Harvard and Lewis and Clark are about the same price, so... I'm imagining it...

Jonah Williams is back in play. We might bag us three 5* this month.

Michael Terry taking a visit at the end of the month before making his announcement …

next week could be a huge week for the Ducks...two 5-star DB's are announcing their college choice

5-star CB from Florida, DJ Pickett is down to Oregon and Miami. He announces on the 19th. 5-star safety, Trey McNutt from Ohio announces on the 17th. He's reportedly down to Oregon and Texas A&M. Rumors are the Ducks are leading for both but nothing is settled

Miami is doing everything they can to keep Pickett from exiting Florida, and that's where Pickett's family is. A&M is pulling out all the stops to land McNutt. Some recruiting 'experts' believe Lanning is orchestrating those two announcements so close together as good PR. But with NIL, you can never be sure that some last second raise of bet won't change a mind

even if both go Oregon's way, there would still be 5 months and a CFB season between the announcement and the actual signing day in December. Meaning that an announcement isn't necessarily the last word

Williams wants to be a dual sport athlete in football and baseball. He was thought to be pretty locked into TAMU but then the baseball coach moved on to the Longhorns so he's supposed to have opened things back up again. He hasn't set an announcement date.

With 4 WRs on board in the 2025 class already, it seems unlikely that he has a commitable offer from UO.

    1) I doubt he’d take a visit if he doesn’t have a committable offer.

    2) That would certainly be something. Turning down a 5 star top ~30 recruit. Guess that would show just how far recruiting has come.

pretty clearly has an offer if he's visiting

I think people need to consider that the limit of 85 scholarships doesn't mean much anymore.; not with NIL. I've been told that there are at least 2, maybe 3 or more, fairly high rated players/recruits on the Oregon roster that aren't on scholarship. Their NIL deals cover the cost of tuition, etc.. I'm not sure how medical costs apportioned, but what's pretty clear is the NCAA can't do shit about any of this. They are toothless and more concerned about remaining relevant then trying to regulate what the courts are saying they can't.

I'm certain there are players on all of the top teams who are in this situation

    1) why not? Beautiful spot, free trip & he may ultimately be a Duck either committing here if someone else backs off their pledge or transferring down the line. From what I read nearly a month back, his offer was contingent on what Moore did & if it wasn't he would have committed on his last visit. Maybe the Duck insider I read is wrong, maybe they decide to take 5 but I'm just being the messenger here.

Recruits can now take an unlimited number of Official Visits (no longer just 5) while programs can offer up to 70 Official Visits. I'd be surprised if Oregon and most bigger programs didn't host 70 or very close to 70 kids each cycle... of course not all 70 will have committable offers.

    2) All of the Duck WR 2025 verbal commits are highly rated. The service I use (rivals) has Moore at #4, Wilson #26, your hope Terry #73, Perry #75 & Mozee #140... & of course rankings are just opinions and no coaching staff worth a damn is leaning on the services to form their own opinions. If Lanning and Co. feel they have room for only 4 WRs in this class or they would have to cut into the depth of other positions, that would be a good reason to pass on a kid that they obviously do like but why not keep the door open for the future?

    ...another thought on this

At 6'3 220, Michael Terry is the same listed size coming out of HS as class of 2023 Duck TE Kenyon Sadiq. Class of 2024's two Duck TEs additions were also similar in their listed size. The current class of 2025 has a larger TE in the fold in DaSaahn Brame, but maybe Lanning values a faster/quicker TE like he saw wrecking Defenses back at Georgia with Brock Bowers? Maybe they're selling Terry on a hybrid role as he is tweener sized?

They just want to hold onto “we have real culture” and “when was the last time an Oregon receiver was developed and drafted high”, “it’s just 2022 TA&M over again” (we do have Malchow after all) so it “must be NIL”. That’s their shtick and recruiting speech probably. They’re scared at their roots at the idea the Oregon culture is for real and that kids want to be here.

Time will tell but every sign I’ve seen is that it’s both culture and NIL.

I bet it’s more culture than NIL

While I doubt the decision makers in the other big programs think Oregon's success is mainly due to NIL, I hope that's what they think. I don't want them trying to imitate the other inovative stuff.
