I didn't fully read everything, but sounds like part of WBD's previous contract gave them a right to match, and they're just exercising that, no? What's there to fight? And does the NBA care if they the same money, and realistically more eyes on their product?(I don't know if the more eyes part is true)

They announced all of those deals with the caveat that WBD could match either or both of the deals from Amazon and/ or NBC. So I sincerely doubt that they're going to sue them or have any grounds to, at all. It was in the NBA's press release that this could still happen.

I wonder if Charles will still retire after this upcoming season though, like he announced. I think he'll give it more time and I bet all of those guys are really happy. Plus I think after the in season tourney is over that the Amazon side of the deal only had a game a week or something. Should be interesting to see. Keeping my fingers crossed because that whole team from production to Kenny, Charles and Shaq to Ernie are the best to ever do this stuff in sports in my lifetime.

Edit: Hey @THE HCP do national broadcasters like TNT sports (or I guess WBD) and ESPN just automatically get access to the highlights that you cut for Blazers games or do they have their own guys that are assigned to do a package for each game each night, for shows like Inside the NBA and I guess bigger than that SportsCenter every day of the year?

I read somewhere that the NBA can still decide to go with Amazon despite WBD having the right to match doesn't necessarily mean the NBA has to choose WBD over Amazon. Don't know how that really works but guess we'll see haha

that's kind of how I'm reading the situation but it's probably board room roulette right now

I haven't seen anybody claim Turner had a 'right of first refusal'...more like they would just have an opportunity to match. But with their on-air talent I'd think they'd have some decent leverage

I don't understand how our olympic team, full of all-stars barely beat some of these other teams, which only have a few average nba players.

Lack of urgency. If you've watched the games the effort from this squad really ebbs and ebbs and ebbs until it has to flow and then it does. One would think that would change when the games count but I guess we'll see.

Those guys were making a few million a year, not tens of millions. It's the same reason why so many players sit out college bowl games now: too much money in [the] sport. Staying healthy for the payday is the top priority, so picking and choosing when to go hard is the new norm.

Yeah, that was a time when basketball wasn't close to as popular as it is now all over the world. We put these Team USA rosters together like all star rosters, while almost every country that we'll face in the Olympics has their national teams playing together and competing for spots on the roster from the time they're kids.

We're still going to kick their asses. These have been exhibition games and whether fans like it or not, if you watched the games, our players treated them like exhibition games while the other teams treated it like it was the chance of their lifetimes. The players at least, I know Serbia didn't play a couple of their better guys in their exhibition against Team USA.

You think that if Team USA "decided to go hard" they'd be beating these other teams by 50 like the Dream Team used to? Yeah, and if the US had really wanted to, they would have won in Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc.

Whenever this team has "decided to go hard" it has gone on 15-2 or 11-0 runs in games that they allowed to be close. This team isn't blowing a fully healthy Serbian team out by 50 by any means but they'll win comfortably by double digits when they play in a game that matters on Sunday morning. They'll do the same to Canada and France. These guys are half assing it right now and then turning it on for bursts of serious ball to avoid any losses. If you don't know that, then you haven't been watching the games.
