How about RICKY RUBIO? He's pretty much universally beloved, and Ayton in particular would be happy. Now, officially he retired from the NBA, but he was struggling at the time and he seems to be in a better place, and besides, he could use this as a springboard into coaching.

Yeah Simons is a younger veteran with an impeccable history and work ethic that could be considered one of the best scoring threats in the league.
    He’s obviously trash…

This makes me lose all respect I had just gained for Chauncey. Melo would have been TERRIBLE for the Pistons. Apart from anything they would have sat Tayshaun Prince, and he's a vital cog.

Best interpretation is that he doesn't really believe it, he's just sucking up to Melo, and that doesn't make him look good either.

Maybe he wouldn’t have been the ball stopper on offense if he came into the NBA on a team like that, with great leadership.

but regardless, taking Darko off that team and adding Melo would have made them better. But yes I understand what you mean, Melo wouldn’t be the best fit for that team. Still would have been better than Darko who didn’t even play.

I definitely wouldn’t say he is sucking up to Melo, for what reason?

Billups has also been harsh towards Melo in the past too.
Chauncey Billups shares why he thinks Melo isn't in the NBA anymore: "Scoring 30 meant too much to Melo. He could have games where he had 20, 22 [points], we win the game and he's mad...The reason why he's not in the league is he hasn't mentally taken that step back"

He is due for extension now. I have not heard of any talks going on about him being extended. GM who hired him got fired long ago. This is potentially Chauncey's last year coaching the Blazers. It's unfortunate, he was never in a position to succeed at any point to start his coaching career.

Oh boo hoo. Unqualified man gets amazing job, fails repeatedly and is not fired, and we should feel sorry for him?

If the objective was to develop players while losing, did he fail? Can anyone argue that Scoot didn't improve throughout his one year? I would say Shae and Walker did as well. Although we really didn't get a chance to see Shae last year. And we most certainly tanked.

Scoot absolutely got better. Sharpe got better throughout his season. Walker is easily a rotation guy, or at worst someone to throw in the game that won’t hurt you

I agree with all this, but of course we don't really know if the development is being done by Chauncey or the assistants.
