it's hard to figure how much cap-space Utah has. Are they just going to let Talen Horton-Tucker walk? The Jazz are somewhere around 111-112M in guarantees (including roster charges). That would give them around 29M in cap-space but THT's cap-hold is 16.5M and Ainge doesn't seem like the type of GM to just give up an asset like THT....maybe I suppose

but I'm having a hard time seeing how a team could use 2024-25 cap-space to sign a 2025-26 contract. Besides that, if Markkanen is unwilling to sign for 25M, I'd doubt that would change if it was 28-29M

    Don't think we include Walker.

If Pelinka is unwilling to send 2 FRPs--or 1 FRP + Knecht--for Grant alone, do you think Walker would be too much for Cronin to include to bridge that gap?

Would they even want Walker when they have Vanderbilt and Wood?

    Agreed.
    Reath instead of Walker.

I see Jabari as redundant for LA.

Unfortunately (according to fanspo), Reath makes 22k too much for a Rui/Vincent/Knecht for Grant/Reath deal to work. They could make that work with Dlo/Vanderbilt, though I imagine that's less palatable. Could also put Rupert in with Grant to match with Rui/GV/DK.

Also curious is they're waiting for Rui to come back stateside before dropping the news of a trade.

Our comfort level w just casually expecting Knecht to be a throw in at this point is.. not realistic.

Just a reminder LA is pretty high on him and attached.

While they would like to dump DLo, at this point they probably are best off to keep him. There are no other guards reportedly available given the LAL weak assets. If Knecht is likely to be a stellar shooter then you try to get him. I would gladly give up Reath or RWIII for Knecht

What is casual here? Multiple sources have mentioned Portland liked him a lot at draft time. Waiting to add his salary to the trade explains the delay in making the move.

We have also been rumored to want 2 firsts for Grant. Knecht and the 29 first aligns with that.

Sabonis or some other players have done this.... Team can renegotiate current year contract to a higher amount and then do an extension off that higher amount. Hollinger and Duncan made it sound like he could get basically the full max now I believe.

Again, the question I was asking was, "IF Pelinka is unwilling to give up Knecht and 1 FRP for only Grant, what asset could we include that might make up the value difference for the Lakers (and still make sense for us)?"

Lebron will explode if a rookie is the reason they couldn't improve the team this year. Grant makes them better

Sucks that Walker works in a trade but Reath does not. $29, 081 difference in salary
    I value Walker's rebounding.

Grant and Walker vs Grant and Reath
    for
    Rue, Dalton, and Gabe
