    Bleacher Report, so...

I don't think it makes any sense for Orlando. Hell, if they want to do that, we could give them Anfernee for the same payoff (although I'd much prefer Anthony Black to Jett Howard, although Jett Howard certainly looked miles better this Summer League than he did as a rookie).

I assume you're ignoring defense. I mean, it makes psychological sense as a Blazers fan, but you'd really have to to see Rui and Grant as the same player.

Or maybe you're just talking about testicles?

I highly doubt Joe would settle for no FRP for Jerami

Some say the Lakers are unwilling to include Knecht, but in that scenario, he was and would be considered one 1 FRP.
I agree that we need one more pick, but dumping Grant's salary should be considered an important piece to the trade.

I never thought Markannan could be part of a direct Blazers deal. It was probably 10 replies ago or something, but my original point or question or comment was Lauri possible extension/ availability having an Aug 8 "deadline" could be something that held up other teams getting a Grant deal finalized.

Walker is so irrelevant to the Blazers and all other teams. He's a scrub throw in with an irrelevant salary.

This is why I'm confused by all the posters saying the Blazers should hold firm for two firsts or such. If we can get one first and a cheaper contract for basically equivalent players it's a great deal.

So irrelevant that they decided to keep him instead of getting rid of him and his salary...

    Okay...

Plenty of teams "would be" intrigued by Simons (if his salary were 60% lower)

If I were looking for a Simons team i’d start with a team featuring a jumbo 2-way point guard that Ant could play off of in the starting lineup that also has decent wing and rim defense behind.

outside of that, it’s a competitive rookie scale-laden team with an established backcourt but needs scoring/shooting off the bench.

(Yeah I’m not sure either team exists and if they do, if they’re a natural trade partner; for #1, Detroit? For #2, Orlando?)

25 mil for a player of his scoring talent is a good contract, not to mention he's got legit PG skills.

If this rumor was true and they were looking to get rid of just one of them...then the first thing I would think is they want to dump one of their salaries. In other words, teams don't need to offer much to get either one. Just ending contracts.

So in that scenario yeah there would be plenty of interest. But whoever we get for Ant would more than likely require matching salaries in return, so why would we do it? To save money on his last year? I don't think that makes sense. (unless they get a quality starting forward back, which is doubtful)

Grant on the other hand does make some sense since he is owed 3 additional years after this next one.

In theory, sure. But again the question is--what NBA team is actually interested in offering anything of value in exchange for him?

With the new CBA teams are tapped out in the free agency market and can sign former rotation players on minimum contracts and one year deels now. I don't see them lining up for Grant or Simons but if I were to guess....Simons would be the first to go. There are a couple of teams that need a point guard but have nothing we want really in return unless it's draft capital.

Orlando, obviously, until they essentially landed KCP for 'free'

Dallas with Doncic until they added Kyrie

Detroit?....I guess, maybe, but only because what they are doing doesn't make much sense

IMO, this 'Simons as a 27M/year no-defense 6th man' idea isn't going to appeal to any team. That would have to be a playoff team and none of them would be in a position to absorb that kind of luxury

Pairing Simons with Cade makes some sense.
