I have only been to fiserv 2023, united 2023, oracle 2008 so not much to compare but i don't get the impression moda is dated. I'm curious what others who have been to other arenas feel about moda in comparison

What? It supposed to be brand new. I'm still trying to change Rose Garden for this stupid new name Moda Center in my head.

I was still an apprentice when we built it.

New seats, a new Jumbotron, and updated tech in the concourse would be a start.

I’m sure a lot of the stuff will be under the hood.

    You misspelled "Rose Garden."

So the lease is up in about 6 years, and some fans are good with sucking for another 6 years?
That seems a bit risky to me.

We don't have a choice. We're almost certainly going to suck for at least 4 to 6 more years.

They renovated the practice facility and put a new roof on Moda last season. This season they’ve upgraded the digital broadcast system I’ve heard or something along that effect but the new roof is what I’d consider a major renovation and buying a G league franchise was another. I don’t see cheap around ownership like some folks seem to

Maybe we need to define "suck". For some, being "average" sucks, but that is not what I am talking about. I think this team could be good enough for fans to actually want to go to the games.

The Blazers do have a choice right now not to suck for the next 4 years. They could keep the exact same team they have now for at least 2 years and be competitive. Not a contender (few teams are) but still a team that does not suck.

This lineup is not that bad. It has some depth and it will only get better as the youngsters grow.

    Scoot, Sharpe, Deni, Grant, Ayton
    Ant, Thybulle, Camara, Williams, Reath,
    Clingan, Walker, Banton, Rupert, Murray

Now I understand why some want to suck this year and that philosophy has merit, but my point is the Blazer management does have a choice........tank intentionally, or keep everyone and be competitive.

Grant is a huge factor in that decision. He provides a huge need for that starting lineup. A long wing who can score.
If they dump his salary for future picks, then yeah we will suck. But they do have a choice.

Right now, I consider suck to be a play-in contender. A bubble team.

If we keep Ant and Grant for four more years that will REALLY suck, IMO.

If we trade them both for draft capital now, draft well, and get a legit coach we will probably be as good as the first team's ceiling at about the same time (probably about 4 years) but the second scenario will still be years from their ceiling and the first scenario will be trying to decide if they should tear it back down again, or keep trying to make the play-in.

And with the first scenario we won't have a realistic chance at winning a championship. In the second scenario we have a much better chance. Even if it takes a bit longer to get back into the playoffs.

Sure if we draft well, and don't miss, and those they draft don't get a major injury, and no one demands a trade...... then all is good. But most lottery teams do have a few misses. The problem I was addressing with my original post was that if they do what you want them to do, and that is to keep sucking until they get a "star", even if it takes another 6 years, this franchise could go bye-bye when that lease is up...if no one is supporting the team

We've already had 2 chances in the lotto. It takes about chances mid to high lotto picks to get an all star. We'd have to be INCREDIBLY bad at drafting to miss out on a star by year 8 of the tank. But honestly, I think if just getting another 2 or 3 players the caliber of Sharpe and Scoot we'd be far better off than keeping Ant and Grant.

Of course, that is just my opinion. But I'd be far more likely to go to a game to watch a team full of Scoots and Sharpes (obviously not all as guards) than a team that relies heavily on Ant and Grant.

We have had 3 chances in the lotto and I am happy with all 3. And all 3 will play. I am good with 1 more. But no more than that.

Keeping Grant or any other player has little effect on upgrades to the Rose Garden.

You're right. I forgot about this year. I'm pretty happy with all of them as well.

I would plan on 2 or 3 more lotto trips, unless we get a superstar.
