<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Knicks fire Brown, name Thomas new coachESPN.com news servicesThe New York Knicks fired coach Larry Brown on Thursday, replacing him as coach with president and general manager Isiah Thomas. The Knicks finished 23-59 in Brown's first and only season at the helm."Larry has had a long and storied career. We hired him last summer with the expectation that he would be with the Knicks for a long time. Sometimes decisions work and sometimes they don't," MSG Chairman James L. Dolan said. "After careful consideration, despite the best intentions from everyone involved, this current structure did not work for us last season and I did not think it was going to improve next season."Thomas, who joined the Knicks as president and general manager on Dec. 22, 2003, previously served as a head coach with the Indiana Pacers for three seasons from 2000-01 through 2002-03. His Pacers teams were 131-115 record, making the playoffs in each of his three seasons."No one in our organization is happy with last season and we all accept responsibility for our performance," Thomas said. "This has been a difficult time for the entire organization and our fans. Today begins the 2006-07 season for the Knicks, and I strongly believe we are on the right track to take major steps in our rebuilding process to achieve our goal of being one of the premier teams in the NBA</div>http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2496106

I bet that he will be more successful with them than Brown was.

The same idea as the Heat: Have the GM coach the team he built. I still hope they really suck in 2006-07, so the Bulls get Oden.

No way the Knicks would get a C/PF. Frye is gonna be an allstar, and they think Eddy Curry's value is one of the best in the league. Don't ask why. I'd take Oden over him.Anyways I heard Brown might coach or do something with the Bobcats.

He sucks. We got Michael Sweetney, the #2 pick in this draft, and hopefully Greg Oden in 2007.

New York might actually be good next year with the right moves. If they trade smart (which likely won't happen), they have 54 million in expiring contracts that they can throw in the trade market, possibly getting pretty good vets. With the 20th pick, they can proally get rising athletic talent Shawne Williams and PJ Tucker with the 29th. Or they could trade up or trade Marbury/Francis to get Farmar or M. WIlliams. The Jazz are looking to dump Boozer's contract, AI is probably going to be dealt for cap relief, K-Mart is rumored to be moving (remember, NY targeted him before) JR Smith is on the block, Ben Wallace, Vlad Radmanovic, and Al Harrington are available on the market. It all comes down to execution. They really need a new GM to right this ship or they really will lose another high pick.

Curry is only 23. he did skip college and is still learning. every year he's gotten better. and hes one of the few real centers in the NBA who can dominate.

Curry will never dominate. If Larry Brown can't get it out of you, a guard oriented Isiah Thomas isn't going to get it out of you. Thomas will probably be on the court to prove that Marbury and Francis are the greatest guards in th e NBA.

But if anything, a 'Guard-Oriented Isiah Thomas' might be exactly what the Knicks do need. Since they have a bunch of guards in Starbury, Francis, Robinson, ect.

That will never happen. Brown got enough of AI already. Hes going to GS or Charlotte. Curry will dominate and what money are you talking about. He got to the knicks out of shape and he got into shape because he wanted to win. The bulls suffered because of no height and no low post presence. Chandler cant score for his life. And btw chang Larry Brown is guard oriented also. Sweetney is too small and overweight and he does have a huge advantage over curry because he did go to college.

On the other hand, Isiah Thomas is the worst GM and will be the worst coach in NBA history. The Knicks have a stupid owner to even have that idiot still working for them. Noone trades 2 potential top 3 picks and a Sweetney for a shitty center that doesn't rebound and could die on the court any minute. The only thing I can imagine Isiah doing is trying to get Stephon Marbury to have 30 ppg and Francis have 25 ppg to prove that guards can win (they will get killed in this case). You do know Eddy Curry had better numbers before he went to the Knicks. He's not a 100% bust but all he'll ever be is a role player at best.

As a Diehards kick fan, I know that Issah Thomas has f%$^#& up this team. He is an egotistic manaic who likes old injured players who cost alot of money. He likes guards more then big guys ( Because he is an egotist and he was a guard) and he is the biggest ahole that has ever exsited inb the knics front office. [IMG] Ps: You can tell that I am a hude I " kiss my ass" Thomas fan [IMG]

You would like chandler who cant score for his life over Curry who can score and still has huge potential? I dont think so. Lazy, yea right. Like i said he lost all the weight during the season so he can become better. The only lazy one is sweetney who has stayed a fatass since he got to the league.

6 RPG is what small forwards average, not a center. Sure, he'll show up once in awhile to score. Alonzo Mourning averaged practically the same off generally off the bench this season. Even Kwame Brown rebounded better than Curry.Just a heads up, Eddy Curry has gotten worse since about his 3rd year in the league. And Tyson Chandler is just as young as Curry.Plus, why would the Bulls be mad when they can get Tyrus Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge, or Andrea Bargnani this draft? Thomas is already more polished defensively, on the boards, and even has mid range scoring. LaMarcus, if he adds some weight, has a chance to be one of the better scoring PFs in the NBA, Bargnani has inside-outside ability like Dirk. Or they could take Adam Morrison who is a BIG time scorer and probably rebounds about the same as much as Curry.

Put all their guards in with Frye/big man that can run (maybe David Lee) and run-and-gun. They'd get the shit kicked out of them every game and by day 50, the team will be dead but Isiah Thomas likes up-tempo play. Now, Jerome James is just yet another NYK waste of money. Played well for Seattle in what 10 games? and gets a massive contract for a player that never proved much.
