Excellent point. However I don't dislike them. They just aren't who I'd build a new team around.

    Can you answer the question?

Of all the old arenas, Moda is the cleanest and best maintained….. no bias needed.

I don't think anyone is saying we need to build the team around them. I was saying that the ones we want to build around, (Scoot and Sharpe) are not being hindered by those two players. And for the record, I am ok with trading either for a talented young forward.

What question of yours are you referring to?
Was it "When was the last time we added an All-Star or top 10 caliber player without drafting them"

I was not suggesting adding an all-star, just a player who puts them over the top. Adding an old Scottie Pippen is a good example. But the past does not matter. As you alluded to in another post, we have a team of evaluators who are different than what we had in the past. We will see how they did by bringing Deni over. Maybe they can find someone else later on.

And take it from the guy who does the landscaping maintenance, he knows a thing or two about it.

If you're keeping them on the team you're building the team around them. Regardless of if it's focused on them or not. If you're bringing in young players those two are going to be two of the best players.

The question was related to the post I responded to. Did any of those guys listed have to play behind a middling vet, or were they given the reins?

And yes, obviously the past matters. Regardless of who we have in the front office we can't expect to pull All Stars unless we draft them. And if we don't even know that we have all stars it doesn't matter who we pull. We'll barely make the playoffs at best.

In order to get Deni we had to trade draft picks. We need to get our stars first and then build around them. That's the only way this works. We've seen that time and time again here in Portland, nothing else gives us the talent we need.

We don't even know what we have yet in Scoot and Sharpe. We have guys in the way, muddying the water, so we can't tell.

Not that it makes any difference because both Scoot and Shae got lots of minutes last year when healthy, which we have explained to you about 1000 times, but yeah some of those guys did start out playing behind someone

Scoot started more than half his games.

Jokic: started 55 of his first 80 games
Haliburton started 20 of his first 55 games
    Booker 51 of 76
    Giannis 23 of 77

SGA was the exception. A guy who idiotically has been traded twice.

As for this statement: "If you're keeping them on the team you're building the team around them. Regardless of if it's focused on them or not." ......... Let's just say I disagree and leave it at that.

So which will be done first?

    Major renovation of the Moda?

Or major renovation of the team?

I'm hoping for renovation to crime prosecution in Multnomah County.

While I agree that how Olshey ran the team was criminal I'm not sure he should be prosecuted for it.

If they are on the team before you start building and you keep them on the team you are by definition building the team with them there. The team is being built around them, regardless of if it is being built to feature them.

The question wasn't about minutes. Once again, Ant and Grant dominate the ball and stop the flow of the offense.

When both of those guys are in the game Sharpe doesn't play as well as when one or both aren't there.

And no. I disagree that those guys "outplayed" players of similar caliber to Grant or Ant. Players were moved to so those players could be more featured (if there were even players there to begin with).

    The Line up of:
    Ayton
    Avidja
    Grant
    Sharp
    Simons
With all getting 30 plus a night is a pretty formidable team.

Maybe eventually getting into the 2nd round if one of Scoot or Sharpe can become an All Star.

Likely never top 6 team, IMO.
