nothing more than camp fodder, I cant see him making the team being that 3 running backs are a lock to make the team(Barber, Ward, Jacobs), and I think Chad Morton's spot on the team is probably safe as well. If he busts his ass and shows he can play special teams then he's got a shot.

The guy is a 3rd RB at best though, just a JAG. Whats up with the Giants keep signing our backup runningbacks though? [IMG]

We still need a back up for Tiki, he can't stay as a 4 quarter runningback.

Chad Morton spent time practicing with the wide recievers for most of last season because they felt like there was a better chance of him getting in as a WR on a WR screen than there was him ever seeing a down at RB

I've never seen someone take such good care of his body and work it so hard. Strongest pound for pound player in the NFL today. Brandon Jacobs showed what he can do in pre-season last year, a year of coaching and another training camp under his belt entering this season and he can probably take some pressure off of tiki. Derrick Ward did a good job spelling Tiki in non-short yardage situations as well. It's hard to argue with not taking Tiki out more...the guy never gets hurt(beyond some nicks and bruises at least), and he flatout gets it done no matter what the case is, blocking, running, catching, etc.

Should he start regressing you guys are in trouble, I dont think he will this season, but its something to be concerned about. Derrick Ward and Jacobs are both ok for the occasional carries, but if Tiki either goes down for a long period of time or isnt effective can either of them pick up the slack? I dont think so.

Don't say to me he is a goal line back because, although NFL.com says he fumbled once, we all know he fumbled at least 3 times on the goal line in 2 games (he probably fumbled more during the season). He should be a 3rd RB at best. Derrick Ward, wow yes, he could be your potential number 2 back. Gains 3.5 yards a carry on 35 carries, not bad at all. Ok so let's see, you'd rather have Brandon Jacobs that fumbles on the goal line consistently, than a man who can potentially be equivalent to Derrick Ward, who you even said yourself could be a number 2 back for you guys. Tough choice? Lose the ball on the goal line, or have a backup RB that gains 3.5 a carry and doesn't fumble.

And the reason he averaged 2.6 yards per carry was because the only time he saw the field was on a 4th & 1 or on the Goal Line. Kinda hard to break a long run from the one yard line, eh?

I know its becoming a 2 running back league, but what do you expect from a back-up? And funny? What's funny is you citing the stats of what were mostly if not all goalline short yardage carries to say that Jacobs is a 3rd RB at best. I don't like to put much stock in pre-season carries, or highlight films, but check out his pre-season stats, and these videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUsWASF06tchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUtgKCONhic
