Seasons Greetings Blazer Family and Friends,

While we are having some cooler than usual weather this August I am looking at some recipes to make for an upcoming family gathering during the holidays. While I was looking through my old recipes I was wondering, well, what if we all shared some of our favorites together?

    Magic Bars
    1/2 cup butter (melted)
1 1/2 cup graham crackers (crushed)
    1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
    1 cup coconut flakes
1 cup chocolate chips *I do 1/2 cup white and 1/2 cup dark choc. chips
1 (14oz) can of condensed milk

Pour melted butter into a 9x13 baking pan. Add graham cracker crumbs (as the base) and then add the chopped nuts, coconut flakes, and chocolate chips. Last pour the can of condensed milk over the mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy :)

What recipes (food/beverage) do you have that are crowd pleasers?

Get a block of whipped cream cheese, throw some cocktail sauce on it, then some shrimp, and place crackers around it.

It's the Mrs @THE HCP of appetizers, quick and easy.

Well, we know now that when you are invited to @SlyPokerDog house you bring Coors Light, but when you go to @crandc house you bring Dom Perignon.

Well, just back from the store. I'll have to try this recipe out too, if @BassPlaya Margarita recipe doesn't house me first. Good thing the kids are going to bed early tonight. :)

I mix in a half bag of taco seasoning on a batch white rice, everyone loves it, especially on taco night.

I will have to try the taco seasoning rice on our taco Tuesday that we do as a family. I will make those margaritas again from @BassPlaya (though I didn't make them exactly the same....since I couldn't find the "wee dram" size in my drawer.) Thanks for the recipes!

Would add a packet of taco mix to sour cream to use in 7 layer dip that put it over the top! Most of what I make is BBQ and those secrets stay with me. One thing me and the wife really enjoy is fried rice on the Blackstone. I'm not into measuring out a whole lot of stuff, just go by feel and look, it's why I enjoy cooking but not baking.

Mix a can of refried beans with a block of cream cheese. Mix it well. Then top with lettuce, tomato's, cheese, onions, olives or what you like. and get some tortilla chips.

Take a 28 oz can or two of beans, mix with 4 slices of cooked bacon per large can of beans. 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of Vinegar. 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, all per can of beans. Bake at 350 for 1-3 hours depending on how you end up liking them. Longer you bake them, dryer they get.

I love BBQ, but am not any good at it (other than BBQ baked chicken...which...is that even BBQ?) I completely agree with the cooking over baking part, but since having little kids I have noticed that they can become measuring experts and enjoy the sweeter treats rather than the savory. I enjoy the fact that we can bake them together and I can control the ingredients more. I would take cooking over baking 6/7 days though.

Now I want BBQ....I was going to make chorizo & cream cheese jalapeno poppers, but dare I try BBQ today? What could go wrong....wait...I don't have a smoker....and it is too wet today for the grill....Doh!

Okay! Yes, I will make these delicious sounding baked beans as a side to my BBQ quest. I at least know this will turn out then. :)

If all fails, I will revert back to my jalapeno poppers and add the bean dip mixture as another side. Served with those margaritas from @BassPlaya and taco seasoning tricks from @Whyachi & @bigbailes we will have a successful Taco Tuesday coming up.

taste testing while adding taco seasoning to a dish is important. Too much spice can block other flavors. I find it best best to add small splashes until you get a decent "hint" of zesty seasoning, then add a bit more.

**i have had zero success with those bulk sized containers of taco seasoning. Every one I've tried is yucky, just pure salt. I only trust the individual brand name packs of taco seasoning.

One packet in a 16oz tub of sour cream is about right, or about a 1/4 cup of the bulk stuff. Gotta remember the dip has some strong flavors in beans, guac, salsa and cheese, so it getting a little kick of taco seasoning just helps put it over the top compared to many other 7 layer dips.

Real deal BBQ is not for the faint of heart or those busy chasing around little kids! That said you don't NEED a smoker, I've tasted some decent stuff right off an old school 22" Weber. I'm still running an offset stick burner but looking to upgrade to a gravity fed insulated pit myself. I do a lot of brisket, some ribs and chicken every once in awhile and of course turkey for Thanksgiving. I use to do some competitions with a friend but during COVID lockdowns he got really into golf and that's where we spend our time and money now.

I love to make a unique quac.

    3ripe avocados
1/2 a cup of sour cream
1 cup large curd cottage cheese
3/4 cup of medium salsa( hot if you are a spicy gal or fella)

Adjust the cup ratios based on the size of the avocados. A couple taste test and adjustments and wala!

to me the best quac you can get.

Oh man...I will have to try this out with my pops. He loves cottage cheese and well, maybe this will be the dish that sells me on it.
Also, I still owe you some Za and brew for those parking tix you hooked me up with last season. I have not forgotten, sir!
