In second place I might have Moneyball and while it probably doesn't rank in my top ten overall, my second place movie in the vein of Moneyball is Draft Day. I really love Draft Day, for a sports fan it's underrated but what I've found is that people that aren't sports fans really love the drama in that movie, which is the exact stuff that us sports nerds, geek out over on and near draft days and trade deadlines.

Glory Road. Yep, that's a great one as well.

Not as good as some of the other mentioned but Blue Chips, Varsity Blues and The Program are personal favorites.

Grouping by sport, baseball pretty inarguably has the best pantheon of movies: Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, A League of Their Own, Major League, Moneyball, The Rookie, 42, 8 Men Out, just to name a few...but for my money, probably my favorite underrated baseball movie is "For Love of the Game".

Football: You're looking at The Program, Rudy, Friday Night Lights, Varsity Blue, Any Given Sunday, The Longest Yard, We Are Marshall, Draft Day, The Replacements...but here, I'd probably go with "Remember the Titans".

Basketball: The last has to begin with Hoosiers, then other entries like Hoop Dreams, Love and Basketball, He Got Game, Glory Road, The Air Up There, Hustle...but "White Men Can't Jump" will always hold a special place in my heart.

Boxing of course has the entire Rocky/ Creed franchise, plus Raging Bull, Ali, Cinderella Man, Million Dollar Baby, Annapolis, The Fighter, Southpaw...a lot of quality dramas. Creed might actually be the best of the bunch.

I'm sure there are some decent soccer movies out there, but "Bend it Like Beckham" is the only one I can think of.

There are also a lot of good golf movies, but listing them here would require acknowledging golf as a sport, so I refuse.

Lagaan (2001) isn’t just the best movie about cricket; it’s one of the best sports movies, and one of the best movies period.

Also Hidalgo is technically a sports movie.

    This was actually pretty good.

Escape to Victory (or simply Victory) is a 1981 sports war film directed by John Huston and starring Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine, Max von Sydow and Pelé.

Kevin Bacon beat up the kid from Goonies, who became a hobbit after playing football at Notre Dame, then he worked with Orlando Bloom, who raced cars with Djimon Hounsou in Gran Turismo, who tried to kill Kurt Russell in Stargate, and Kurt was the voice of Elvis in Forrest Gump, and Forrest Gump was an all-American football player for Alabama !!
