NBA Draft

What are your guy's thoughts on the NBA Draft (Wednesday)?

I think it's underrated if you know what I mean. It's also well balanced. Bargnani is going to be first pick

I want Morrison on the Blazers.

The class is extremely weak. You can consider it balanced but really there isn't a clear cut upper teir of 2-3 players.Bargnani, Morrison, Aldridge, Thomas, Gay, Roy are basically all on the same level.Then under them, you have Carney, Marcus Williams, Foye, Shelden Williams, Redick, O'Bryant, Farmar, and Simmons.But after the top 13 basically, the talent drops off considerably. There aren't really players t hat separate each other this year so if I were a GM, I would definately trade down. I would hate to have a pick in th is draft cause you wouldn't know which direction to go.

T-wolves need a PG in round 1 and a center in round 2.

I think they will go for a PF like Tyrus Thomas if they can get him

T-Wolves should trade down for Farmar ideally but I think they'll be looking for a SF/SG like Gay or Roy.Foye is a pretty good value at 6 but moving down to around 15 for Farmar and adding draft picks would be smart. I'm just not sold th at Marcus Williams can handle the NBA. He's a good leader but slow feet, little explosion, holds the ball too long... not what I want. Farmar who tested best athletically would be my preferrance.

I would be happy with Foye at 6. I think we're set at every position but PG and Center. Go for Boone in the 2nd. Don't need a PF, we have KG.Don't need a SF, we have Ricky Davis.Don't need a SG, we have rashad.

Boone won't drop to the 2nd round most likely.If you got C / PG that might be smarter idea...O'Bryant at the 6 (a bit of a reach) and then Gibson/Washington/Dee Brown in the 2nd

The Bulls should either take that Italian guy or Aldrigde at #2. They should take Shannon Brown at #16

I want the Kings to take a good PG like Rondo or Gibson. Or a big man like Sene, Armstrong, or Boone.

The TWolves will probably land Randy Foye, I heard they really liked him. As for the Celtics I want Ronnie Brewer, Randy Foye, Tyrus Thomas, or Rajon Rondo. Not Marcus Williams!

No thanks, the NBA Draft is so unpredictable that nobody would get one pick right. But, it's a good idea though. And Hey, I never seen you on the boards and I just looked and your a admin. So what's up man?

i want Farmer to drop to the Nets, and Hilton Armstrong (Nets have picks 22nd adn 23rd)

He just went under very serious knee surgery a week or 2 ago, and I think it's 4-6 months before he's back.

But were talking about late first round picks in the NBA, meaning one of two picks for the teams picking. In the NFL there are 53 players on a team, 11 on a practice squad, and they draft atleast 7. Totally different.

When it comes draft time, I think it will ultimately be Rudy Gay as the #1 overall pick.Noone has a bigger upside than he does. Even if he doesn't pan out fully, he's still a solid all-around player with a fundamentally sound all-around game.Gay fits in with Bosh at C, Charlie V at PF, Gay at SF, Graham at SG, and a PG.This Bargnani hype as #1 is overblown IMO. After the Darko scare, I'm sure GMs are afraid of picking another foreign prospect especially one that is somewhat like Dirk but can't play post-up basketball to save his life. He's too slow-footed to be a SF too yet too light to be a PF. He's a hybrid that really is a boom or bust pick that can cost a GMs job.Another overrated prospect is Marcus Williams. Sure, his court vision is very good and he really is a floor general but his footspeed is extremely slow. Watching him play defense in like watching slow-motion. He can't follow a player and really doesn't have the speed to get by semi-quick PGs. I'd prefer a player like Farmar (vastly underrated; he's the 2nd best PG prospect to me) or Rondo who are athletic yet have room to improve their game whereas Williams has a good game but is far far from athletic.The 2nd round is very rich this season I noticed... most could be late-first rounders. Players like Daniel Gibson, Will Blalock, and Darius Washington could be 2nd round steals if they fall that far. Toronto would be smart to nab on of them since James is likely out the door. Also Powe, Bowman, Paul Davis, Guillermo Diaz could be solid role players or bench players that add a spark to the offense/defense.

I haven't been following up on the NBA for a while now. I only get interested when it comes to the NFL Draft because it's the only way that Atlanta will get better. >_>Anyways...anyone have any analysis on Atlanta and who they will pick?I would personally like if they would choose Shelden Williams or Marcus Williams. Both players are a great asset to the bigger requirements and needs of the Atlanta Hawks.

Atlanta is supposed to draft Brandon Roy at #5 and trade with the Houston Rocket #8 Shelden Williams.Personally, I don't see Shelden as anything more than a role player, a Udonis Haslem type player, a PF that does the dirty work like rebound and play D and will score 15 points once a week. I don't see why Atlanta wouldn't take Tyrus Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge, or Andrea Bargnani because 1 of them is bound to be there and all 3 of those players have much much better upside than Shelden. Shelden has peaked imo while Aldridge and Thomas are only a step behind in polish yet.In the 2nd round, Atlanta should get a PG like you wanted. Daniel Gibson, Darius Washington, Dee Brown, and Will Blalock should all still be available. They add speed and versatility. Gibson is a score first and the 3rd best defensive PG (behind Rondo and Collins who are in their own class). Washington is a good driver and will chip in the jump shot once in awhile. He's not a top 35 talent to me though because his upside is blocked by his character. Dee Brown has incredible speed but that's about all that's going for him. incosistant J and not the best D will hurt him. Blalock is the best passer and has good speed of the 4 which could help Atlanta with scorers like Joe Johnson, Marvin, Childress, and Josh Smith. If Atlanta wants to employ an up-tempo style of play, I would take Blalock. If they want to go half court in the future, I would go Gibson.I would believe that if they trade down from 5 to 8, they should get the Rockets #32 overall pick. With that, they should definately pick up Paul Davis if he's available. Since they would have the next pick anyway #33, ensuring you get the best big man available is important. Although an athletic PF like Alexander Johnson could be a solid pick as well. An international prospect like Freeland or Halperim could be available and they have big upside. Powe might be available and he's the best PF in the draft in terms of skill. He's still young too. Eric Williams could be available. A big body that is probably the strongest in the draft.

Actually. According to draft experts... the pick that is the closest to being a for sure one, is Atlanta taking Sheldon Williams at #5. Also, in the paper (it said nothing about AI going to Minny, I just would like him to), it said the best fit for AI could be ATL and they may get him. They need fans and he'd bring them. But they more than likely won't be able to pay for his 60mil contract.

If Atlanta takes Shelden at 5, the GM needs ot be fired immediately. Shelden is not top 5 and I would even consider top 8 a reach. If I were a team like Atlanta that's still growing, I would prefer Simmons (he's pretty strong, good on the boards, and is a decent big man FT shooter; reminds me of Amare with quick moves and can do other things than just post up) or O'Bryant (he's thin but he has skills that can be polished to make him top 5 center in 4 years, don't think he'll gain much weight though)My top 5 at each position (I tend to prefer upside/athleticism over unathletic talent; NBA game isn't for non-athletes these days)PGFoye, Farmar, Rondo, Rodriguez, M.
