Guns aren't going away. There are over 400 million in circulation and most aren't registered. That cat's out of the bag. No, I don't just say "That's fucked up" because I'd prefer to see solutions. And guns are not going anywhere, so I'm suggesting solutions that the vast majority of people aren't opposed to. Your or my opinions on how cool guns are or are not isn't relevant.
