Again, you made it sound like a complete impossibility that the Lakers couldn't send back out more salary. I easily showed you differently.

Even with less than 15 on the roster, making the numbers work is pretty simple with 2nd rounds and such.

To suggest Vincent and Timelord's value is equal or similar, is laughable. We've already heard numerous reports of playoff teams trying to trade for Timelord with minimal assets. Have we heard such thing about Vincent as he languishes at the end of the Lakers bench? lol

I know this has been posted but this is the Ant trade to make:
    upload_2024-9-5_15-39-13.png

This is the Jerami trade to make (I have the Lakers 2030 pick top 5 protected and it would be top five protected in 2031 and 2032 and would become their 2032 second round pick if not conveyed by then... also I think we might be able to squeeze a 2029 pick swap from them as well). Both Vincent and Redish would be waived and we would not bother stretching Vincent's salary, we'd just take the hit this season and next:

This is the Ant trade to make.

Ant, Reath for Carter Jr., Cole Anthony, DEN pick

This is the Ayton trade to make.

Ayton to NO, Ingram to Utah, Collins + filler to PDX, + a pick from Utah (probably protected by Danny)

Then flip Grant to LAL for Vincent, Rui a pick, and filler. Flip Rui to LAC for the corpse of Tucker, Coffee, and some future swap or pick.

cut Tucker and all the filler.

We would absolutely suck, but Scoot would have the opportunity to work with pick n roll and pick n pop threats, the ball would move around more on offense, and we could see what we have in the kids (and pick up some picks). Tell Carter Jr., Anthony, Thybulle, and Collins that if they're good soldiers and their agent finds a team that presents an OK offer we will move them and hope you get something for Carter Jr. at the deadline. The vibes, highlights, and lowlights would be fun.

    Henderson / Anthony / Vincent
    Sharpe / Coffee / Rupert
    Advija / Thybulle / Murray
    Collins / Camara / Walker
Carter Jr. / Clingan / Williams

I said maybe we could squeeze a 2029 pick swap but LA gives up a top 5 protected FRP, a second round pick, Rui and gets to offload Vincent and Reddish whose salaries we would just eat.

Then a future second round pick from us, the second round pick from the Lakers and Rui go to the Hawks for our old friend Larry Nance Jr. and the Lakers upcoming FRP in the 2025 draft that Atlanta owns and would be worth a lot less if the Lakers add Jerami, keep DLo's scoring and keep Vando coming off the bench.

These are surprisingly common-sensical, except I don't see Orlando giving up Carter Jr and I don't want Collins, who is just dead weight at this point, but has 2 years on his contract.

I agree that it's not a given Orlando would give up Carter Jr., but I think it's a relatively fair trade (and they like the other centers on their roster).

Collins' contract matches Ayton in terms of years and is cheaper. He's a flawed player with a relatively good attitude (he didn't like playing with Trae, but that's true for every NBA player), Scoot would get to play with a real pick n roll lob threat, we'd get a few highlights (and plenty of losses). He's an expiring next year that could be moved easily. I'd prefer him to Rui (who supposedly is a challenging locker room guy and has a longer contract) and isn't a great pick n roll threat.

a Locked on Blazers listener demanded Mike to rescind his 2nd round picks idea for Robert Williams. The "fan" stated unequivocally that Timelord is worth an unprotected FRP.

---- It was probably a Danny Marang burner account.

Yeah, he won't get us an unprotected FRP in return. But unless we need to get rid of his salary to make another move, I would wait it out instead of moving him for 2nd round picks. His salary could be used in another trade. Granted it probably won't happen, but it is worth holding on to him IMO. (although I would take any 1st that is offered)

I like the idea of Clarke... So I like this trade.

The inclusion of Thybulle pushes Memphis into the Tax.
Maybe swap him out for Banton? (or Reath)

I just assumed Thybulle would be more valuable to a team with playoff aspirations. But whatever would be necessary to make the deal make sense for Memphis, I'd probably be on board with. Of the alterations you listed, I'd think I'd rather keep Banton over Reath.

the issue with Brandon Clarke is he's trying to come back from a torn Achilles. Kevin Durant is a rare exception; most guys never come back as good as they were. Wesley Matthews was a shell of the player he was before the injury. Klay Thompson is another example of a reduced player

Did you know that Jerami Grant has averaged 1.4 more rebounds over his career than Muggsy Bogues did over his? Fascinating.

Yeah, that is an issue. He is an undersized forward who is effective because of his quick first step. Has he lost it?
He did play the last 6 games of the season last year. I did not see those games but his stats were pretty good considering the long rehab.
