In general people don't remember the negative parts of your game if you have something else to distract them.

Like Angel Reese. Gets a ton of rebounds but has some real flaws, too.

The flaws are worth noting, but the average person they won't even notice it. They're fans. They aren't expected know that stuff.

In the previous tweet hyping up the playoff matchups, the WNBA flat out picked who was shown as the key player for each team.
In the SI tweet, it’s a combo.
I have a good friend of mine who is head of marketing for SI and another for SLAM.
They are in charge of requesting who they want on their covers or the lead at the top of their websites. The WNBA in turn will let them know who their marketing departments are hyping and want to plug. Heard from both in the past they have asked leagues for certain players and were told they could have them later if they would do a piece or a shoot with somebody else first. That SI cover piece is a planned marketing campaign if there ever was one.

    Oh, okay. Thanks for sharing.

Then I would guess they are trying to take advantage of the drama. This controversy keeps the WNBA in the news more, which is incredible marketing.

The WNBA has gotten far better at playing that game since the huge funding round they did a few years ago. IMO it's no coincidence that we've had so many more well known players coming out of college since then.

The SI cover? Clark is biggest star in rookie class but with women they still want glamour.

I have zero doubt Clark is ROY.

Yeah, I agree. She will win ROY. At least, she deserves it.

I don't think it's about that, though. I think the league (their marketing department) is just helping to keep the controversy alive because it's great to get eyes on the league.

This is kind of a terrible take. Angel Reese was just on the tweeter talking about her next boyfriend needs to be 6-7 or 6-8 and probably an NBA player.
Think she might be less lesbian than most also? IDK? Just guessing?

Looks like Kaitlyn Clark won rookie of the year today, Indiana on their Instagram page posted it five hours ago. Not to mention on the WNBA page.

Eeeeesh...4-25 from 3 from their starting guards is not gonna get it done. Tough first playoff game for CC and the Fever. Let's hope they bounce back on Wednesday.

Is the entire playoffs best of three in wnba? Or just the first round? Best of five is the perfect length for a playoff series imho.

First round is best of 3. Semis and finals are best of 5.

Looks like Clark ended up 4th in MVP votes, ahead of Sabrina too.

No one on Fever ever played a playoff game before. Hopefully they are over jitters. Best of three stinks.

Watching this game with the wife yesterday and she said it looked like she did it on purpose. I couldn’t argue….. but man Whitlock is letting people know what’s up!

Nobody is trying to gouge her eyes out.... Come on...

Though I do get the fingernail thing. You should not be allowed to have long fingernails and play.

Multiple NBA players have asked for rules on the length of fingernails over the years.
Dwight Howard has always been one player that other players complained about.
