...for about a decade from now. Forgive me if I don't get excited.

I can't either. How do they have 15 on Guaranteed contracts?

Doesn't matter. Let's get picks and swaps and then offload any players we get for the best value possible.

It'll be great to have draft capital when we're competing. Those assets will help us reload or make deals to remain competitive.

Are you excited at the prospect of Grant starting this season for us?

wait. Do you not see the conflict here?

how can we be competitive then if we don't imProve the roster now?
Many here think the current roster is a bottom feeder. If we trade our best players for draft capital in a decade, how do we acquire the talent enough to be competitive while still holding onto that future draft capital.
Now i believe our young core can blossom and be competitive but many seem to think we need more than we have in order to be competitive. So im confused.
    What am i missing?

We don't have enough talent or respected potential to trade for a competitive roster. That's just not in the books.

We're going to need to draft more talent. A lot more.

Since we have no realistic chance at competing with them it is best to get what we can out of our middle-aged talent before they turn into overpaid old talent.

If the best return is draft capital in a decade then we should trade them for that. If the best return is draft capital in 5 years then we should trade them for that.

okay but that didn't address my question regarding your comment about having draft capital when we are competitive by trading our players now for picks a decade out. If we trade good players we now have for draft capital a decade from now, how will we be competitive at that time as you had suggested?
Wouldnt we need to trade for for current draft capital to draft more lottery players who might then be competitive in 7-10 years?

Im trying to figure how you think we will become competitive within the next decade if we are trading our valued players now for capital a decade from now?

By bottoming out in the hopes of landing a star, and banking on the continued development of our current players, specifically Scoot and Sharpe.

Thats where ya lose me. “In hopes of landing a star”

If we don't, we may never see the playoffs again. And the odds of first getting a top three pick and then landing an all star caliber player is not very good odds.

A star can be landed with a lower pick with proper scouting.
Im just not sold on missing the playoffs to bottom out and still have slim chances of getting that right player.
Id rather make the playoffs and allow our scouting staff to find the right player in the draft spot we land, at this point.
I know im in the minority, but i see a potential, very very bleak future in trying to bottom out. Including fan disinterest.

Difference of opinion. I believe that if we stay healthy and the young guys continue to improve, we are a playoff team this year, if not the next.

By drafting higher in the draft (thereby increasing our opportunities to pick the best talent) as many consecutive years as necessary for the players we draft to be too good to earn lotto picks.

Even of we started the whole process over and Sharpe and Scoot turned out to be complete busts (which I don't believe they are), if we did it right with quality coaching average or better drafting we would almost certainly be a top 6 team within a decade.

Then we'd have that draft capital to help put us over the top.

Then Scoot and Sharpe would start hitting their prime about the time Grant and Ant are used up and we wouldn't be able add any more talent to replace them...

A 25ish win improvement gets us to the play-in. I'll take a toke of what you're smoking.

This one can't happen until 10/4 due to Christie's summer signing, but here you go:

Funny, but without context. How many injuries last year? How many deliberate losses due to tanking?
This team was winning more games the last two years and management had to shut players down. So yeah we are better than 25 wins as is, in my opinion.
We were fighting for a playin spot half way through last season i believe. We were like four games out and then started sitting players?
