Older article, but I just saw it and found it priceless....<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Mitchell waiting a chanceSunday, May 28, 2006By Mark EckelNewhouse News ServiceA little over a year ago, the Eagles released wide receiver Freddie Mitchell, and the former first-round pick is still waiting to get back in the league. After a draft not exactly loaded at the wide receiver position, Mitchell hopes he gets a chance to land in a training camp, but feels there are ulterior motives at work against him."I don't want to say I'm being blackballed, and I know it's not Andy Reid," Mitchell said, excusing his former head coach. "But somebody is blackballing me. There has to be something going on we don't know about."Mitchell admits his health was a question last year after he injured his knee in training camp with Kansas City and received an injury settlement from the Chiefs after he was released."I guess some people in Philadelphia didn't get the memo I was hurt," he said. "But I'm healthy now, the knee is fine. I'm working out with T.O. (Terrell Owens, for those who live under a rock) in Atlanta just waiting for something to happen. Camps don't open until July, so there is still some time."With 32 teams in the league, each carrying either five or six receivers, that means there are jobs for between 160 and 196 receivers. Mitchell, the 25th overall pick in the 2001 draft, can't land one of them?"I can't believe it, either," Mitchell, who once thanked his hands for being so great, said. "I mean, you look at my numbers, and they weren't that great. But you need to look further. Check out the percentage of passes I caught compared to the number thrown to me. I guarantee you I rank with the best in the league."Mitchell rarely dropped passes. The rap on him from his critics was he rarely got open. Of course, he contends he was open and quarterback Donovan McNabb didn't throw him the ball. He also thinks it was personal between him and McNabb."What (bothers me) is that you look around the league and there are a lot of average receivers who are made to look good because of the system they play in and the people around them. I was never given that opportunity -- never."</div>*Gets out my violin*
Freddie Mitchell is the man and he deserves a job. Someone like San Diego, Buffalo, Miami, Cleveland, New York Jets, Kansas City, Green Bay might wanna check him out, or any team who's looking for a solid WR.

He does have a big mouth but from what I can tell he never starts problems with his team mates, he just crosses boundaries sometimes that he shouldn't cross to promote team spirit.
How does he derserve a job? He's been a jerk to every team in this league, and it finally caught up to him.

It got Harrison and other pumped, and the rest is history.
Eagles didn't lose cuz FredEx got ur secondary po'd, Eagles lost because they sucked and McNabb choked, straight up.

I'd rather be WORLD CHAMPIONS than NFC Champions. No one is going to remember the Conference Champion in years to come. Getting that far and losing usually means you aren't going to go back for a while. Especially with your team's track record:2001 Lost NFC Championship game2002 Lost NFC Championship game2003 Lost NFC Championship game2004 Lost Super Bowl XXXIX2005 6-10 Record, 4th place in NFC EastYeah, I'm sure you can expect some great things from them. NOT. THAT'S CHOKING BUDDY. They could of been to the Super Bowl 4 different times but they blew the opportunity 3/4 of the chances they got. Then the ONE chance they get, they STILL blow it. They won't get back to that level for a long time.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Brooksie5 @ Jun 29 2006, 10:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Go play CFL. Compare that to the eagles 59. You guys have been freaking horrible. Only over .500 once in the last 5 years. The eagles always made conference championship or better when you guys farthest place was the divisional championships. Getting that far and not going back? THEYVE WENT TO 4 STRAIGHT conference championships. I think they have gone back. And mcnabb won with no WR's. Can brunell say that? One of the best defenses in the league, pro-bowl WR, good running game, etc. U guys are the chokers. They will get back to that level. Keep dreaming that your overpaid roster will go anywhere. Sean taylor going to jail and you guys have no possession wr's.

Sean taylor going to jail and you guys have no possession wr's.[/quote]I'm telling you a team only gets an X amount of shots at the Super Bowl and playoff games before they peak and start getting worse. Your team in my eyes already peaked, you aren't going back to that phase for a bit you are going to face a rebuilding period. My team on the other hand is only getting better and better each year since Gibbs has returned. Your opportunity to succeed is GONE and ours is just on the horizon. BTW, our team may be overpaid but we are still under the cap and we can freaking afford them. Sean Taylor got off scot free with a plea bargain deal... and wait, who are your wideouts again? 2nd year Reggie Brown is your #1 guy right? Who's next? Todd Pinkston? Yeah he's a real possesion wide reciever, he's afraid to take a hit http://youtube.com/watch?v=ls794MhIkU4&sea...todd%20pinkston and who's your #3 guy? WESTBROOK? Sure looks like it: http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nflGet used to being at the bottom of the division. It's our time to shine.
The Bills went to 4 straight Superbowls so that means it aint impossible. McNabb has won with bad wr's before. NFC championship games with freakin James Trash as the #1 Receiver. He plays for the Redskins as a SPECIAL TEAMER. Name another QB that can do that. Reggie Brown is on his way up also. He's going to have a huge season this year. They also picked up Jason Avant who is a pure playmaker. Greg Lewis has speed which is very helpful. Yea pinkston was scared to take a hit but u failed to mention he led the NFL in yards per catch when he was healthy. They have also LJ smith, a very good TE on his way up. How have they unpeaked? They have the same exact team except for Simon and TO. They addressed that with the additions of bunkley and patterson. And why are you trashing Westbrook? He's one of the most versatile rb's in the game. This team still has tons of talent. If i were you I wouldnt get too happy because your team only looks good on paper. The ravens looked good last year but look what happened. Your redskins have done JACK in the NFC. Your too confident. Every team in the NFC has playoff potential.
Look pal, don't even bring up Jason Avant. I'm a total Michigan fan, but have you seen him play? At best he will be a 3rd WR in the NFL. He isn't that good. Look at Braylon Edwards. He was amazing in college and is barely getting his job done as the #1 WR in Cleveland. And no, you don't have any prime targets recieving except for LJ. You can't just dump to your TE and expect to win games. Reggie Brown isn't on his way up, I don't see where you get that from. Yes, the kid is good, yes he has talent, but there is no way he is on his way up with this crappy offense. Face it, you lost your #1 man, TO, all because your coaches have to be bitches and suspend him the whole season because he was acting like himself. And just look how much that hurt your team, look at it. He was off to an amazing season and you just cut him off for some little scrap with Hugh Douglas and the DL coach. Your team is done for another few years, and you can't deny it. Your guys are all old, and because you choke in the playoffs almost all the time, you get lower draft picks and get a rare talent int he draft. The Eagles suck, period.

Braylon Edwards was a rookie last year and he was injured several times. He had to adjust to the NFL plus adjust to 2 different qb's, Frye and Dilfer. You cant label some1 a bust in his first year in the NFL. I bet you thought Eli sucked when he took over for Kurt Warner rite. You dont need any prime targets to succeed. The Eagles have proven this since McNabb was drafted. Like I said they won with Thrash and Pinkston. They have even more talent now with Brown, Avant, Smith, Lewis, etc. How isnt Reggie on his way up. He had a good season with a horrible backup QB. Imagine what he'll do with a pro-bowl QB. TO was here for a season and a half and he didnt drastically improve this team. They won 2 playoff games without TO. The Eagles won with freakin freddie mitchell and Pinkston. And now ur blaming the coaches? TO called out the OC, he called out McNabb and even wanted to fight them. He wanted to be in exile during training camp. He was the cancer and he was very selfish. He wanted a new contract and when he saw that they didnt want to then he started doing all that crap. A LITTLE SCRAP? He said if Favre was playing they would be undefeated. He told Childress not to talk to him. He fought the team ambassador. He said McNabb got tired during the SB and he acted like an immature little brat. What else do you want? This team is better in every position than the superbowl team. The WR spot has more depth. The rookies we drafted are great. The team is stronger emotionally now. WHAT OLD PLAYERS? Name them for me. O yea they choked in the playoffs against one of the NFL teams in history. Your redskins wouldve gotten shutout. You suck, period.
