yes, he's a great coach, although the number of one-possession games he's won (with an incredible amount of crazy luck) over the last 3 seasons may be worth an asterisk there is a pretty interesting component to this though. He was at Washington for the 2022 & 2023 seasons * in 2022, his recruiting class ranked 95th. Now, that was a coaching transition class so you'd expect a lower mark. But UW's 2021 class, with Jimmy Lake, ranked 30th. A collapse from 30 to 95 is crazy. He had 9 de-commits that year. That's really not out of the ordinary for a coaching change. But Willie Taggart, Mario Cristobal, and Dan Lanning all did way better in their transition classes * in 2023, his class ranked 26th (I'm using 247's composite rankings by the way). Dan Lanning's class ranked 9th justifiably so, his reputation as a coach was much better than his reputation as a recruiter. HOWEVER!....his 2024 his Alabama class ranked 2nd (Oregon ranked 3rd). Now, it's important to note that Alabama hire Deboer a month AFTER the first NLI day on Dec 15. So, almost all of the credit for the 2024 class should go to Saban * But, currently for the 2025 class, Alabama ranks 2nd behind Ohio State (Oregon 8th) 'meaning'....there is likely a lot of truth to the old saying about Alabama recruits itself. And that can be applied to most blue blood like Ohio St., Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Florida schools. Deboer showed no elite recruiting ability; not really even high quality recruiting ability in....until he landed in Tuscaloosa
After seeing the O on the helmets for a couple of games I'm glad they went back to the wings on the helmet. I had taken advantage of the wings and didn't respect them as much as I should have.
The Stomp Out Cancer uniforms they are wearing on Friday are awesome. Love the story and meaning behind it. but GO SPARTANS!
Ducks should just play the game and then focus on next week. J. Smith is similar to Mike Riley, you can pencil them in for one big upset win a season. Don't overlook MSU!
Idk. Maybe they should just look ahead to the Ohio State game and play down to their opponent like they did the first two games?
