I only tune into the WNBA to watch Sabrina. I love my Ducks and my Blazers. After that, I need a rooting interest for most sports. Once the playoffs start I tend to tune in to more sports.

It’s humorous to me that the players and the league don’t understand what she is doing for all of them. I truly wish she’d leave for over seas or whatever so they can all play for less money and no fans

What makes you think they don't understand? What should they be doing differently?

    Letting her score?

    Letting her win?

I guarantee you Caitlin Clark benefited from the funding rounds that the WNBA started in 2022 largely for increased marketing. Just like the last couple draft classes did.

They've all benefited. Including Caitlin Clark. And they will all continue to benefit. As will she.

It is investment that has been sorely needed and now that they've finally done it they'll soon be a profitable league that can stand its own.

And Caitlin Clark has done a ton to get that attention as well. Nobody is saying she hasn't.

They totally understand, they're flying charter instead of commercial now to games.

I think they understand very well. I think they are feeding it the rivalry and sound bites to create more drama and more viewers.
Would not be the first time a league fed a rivalry.
Bird and Magic come to mind as well as many others.

    Are you sure?

Maybe they live under a rock with no social media and no access to sports news.

Yet they still complain about her and say asinine things about her. You have legends dissing her. Current players taking extreme cheap shots

I think the nature of it being Women makes certain people feel or think like it’s different but in the end I’m not sure it is?
How will CC and Reese be regarded in 20 years?

It’s not a gender thing. I feel it’s a social media thing. Never heard a petty word from players when Bird and Magic resurrected the NBA. Also, please stop pushing Reese as an equal to Clark. People aren’t tuning in to watch Reese miss 40 shots a game

Until this past year my family or I had never watched womens basketball……other than the games I’d worked. This season I tuned into almost every CC or Sabrina games.

Nobody said they were equals. What I originally said was "I think they know what they are doing". There is no question a number of the statements made by other players. Reese included seemed to fuel some of the fire.
The NBA had a number of incidents over the years that created controversy and increased ticket sales. There were also a number of Hip Hop artists that got into the mix. Even the Latrell Sprewell choking thing got played for what it was worth. Pacers vs Pistons, Knicks vs Nuggets, Celtics vs Lakers, Jeff Van Gundy, Ron Artest, Dennis Rodman. I see little difference.

Yes, Chuck Swirsky, a name that lives in infamy in Trail Blazer lore.

He has now since moved onto the Bulls. I asked him once, why….he told me He felt bad for Andrea. That’s it! What an idiot.
