You'd think we would have learned from Oden's numerous red flags as well as Roy's bad knees, but a guy who didn't play in college because he needed time to get his body right should have sounded air raid sirens. The Blazers medical staff hasn't proven itself capable of righting such ships, so hopefully the dudes in charge of drafting stop thinking they're smarter than everyone else with these situations.

Who do you think the Blazers should have drafted?

My hope was for some Roy-Aldridge type wheeling and dealing that would result in Duren and Sochan. (And yes, I did post as much pre-draft, in case anyone thinks I'm being revisionist. I was never sold on Sharpe being a safe bet.)

well, this settles the question about which guards will start. It will be Scoot/Ant. and just to refresh memory, they were the worst 2 man combo on the Blazers last season. Team was outscored, on average, by 20.4 points per 100-possessions. oil and water

In retrospect, it's clearly Jalen Williams. That is how the draft goes though. I was fully on-board the Sharpe train during the draft. Gonna have to wait and see now.

On the bright side maybe we can lose a bunch of games while Ant somehow raises his value?

Karma, baby. The Blazers threw games to draft this guy, which you should never do. Don’t mess with karma. Do the right thing. Here endeth the lesson.

Beware of the highlight reel dunkers....they tend to be injury prone. Fuck this kid just can't get a break as a Blazer.

Solid point. The proper (and most effective) way is to trade your vets and play all young guys.

We've had what 10 games of all of Scoot/Sharpe/Ant playing together?

Seems like the concerns we often hear about having enough shots/minutes/starts/ whom comes off the bench/etc is way overblown.

same with the concern about minutes at the 4/5, because of Williams.

Tho Williams track record of getting hurt is significantly stronger than Shaedons.

I wonder if they'll still let him to play several games to gain some experience before considering surgery. Not that surgery is be required but this is obviously a reoccurring issue so it would seem likely.

For comparison's sake, a quick Google search shows me Mathurin and Morant had labrum tears last season, too, and were required to get surgery.

MKG had surgery for a labral tear but didn't last long after that. Of course, he had leg injuries for years prior which factored moreso into his career ending.

Dwight Howard had surgery as well and returned to have an All-Star season and still played decent for the Rockets, too. Back and knee injuries seemed to be what slowed him down, instead.

Siakam is another one, back in 2021. He has had career seasons since.

Not a doctor so, obviously, I can't tell the specific differences between the various injuries.

Batum had surgery for one during an early Blazers season, Meyers Leonard too.

Sharpe has the talent but doesn't have the health or drive to be a star in the NBA. I don't expect anything from Sharpe anymore. Getting Flagg is out only hope out of this bog.
