there's no swap with Boston, just the rights to their 2029 first obviously, that 2028 swap is a bit problematic if you don't believe the Blazers will make the playoffs over the next 4 seasons. That's entirely possible so we'd need the Blazer lottery pick to be lower than the Bucks lottery pick for the swap to convey I'd imagine that Boston will likely be the best team of the three in 2029. But that is 5 years away and the NBA seems to reset every 2-3 years. So who knows what 2029 will look like
I'm not concerned about the 2028 swap - Blazers have shown they know how to tank just fine. If we are a lottery team the next 3 years, I really doubt we jump into the playoff that 4th year if the Bucks pick looks valuable. Also could probably figure out a trade with Chicago in 2027-28 if we really stand to lose the benefit of the swap. There's just so many independent actions that all must line up perfectly against the Blazers for losing that swap to eventually become an actual realized cost. However giving up one of the 2029 picks in the Deni trade was by far the biggest part of that deal I really didn't like. It's certainly very possible two of the Celtics/Bucks/Blazers are well into the lottery in that season. Now that pick will go to the Wizards.
One idea I've liked is with a possible Lakers Grant trade - I just don't think the Lakers would have any interest in giving us TWO picks. But I bet we could get a swap with them of that worst 2029 pick we have for theirs. Then get one pick outright from them in 2031 or something.
I've floated the idea a few times of getting an unprotected 2029 Lakers first round pick swap where they get the worst out of ours the Bucks and Celtics and then us getting a top 5 protected 2030 pick from them that remains top 5 protected in '31 and '32 but becomes a second rounder in '32 if it hasn't conveyed. I think with the first asset being a swap and the second having protections we might be able to get one of their two second round picks in this upcoming draft and possibly that would be enough to include with Rui to a third team in exchange for a worse player or contract and get back another FRP.
can't trade a 2032 pick; it's past the 7 year limit I don't believe there's a chance the Lakers trade any unprotected pick in 2029-31 for Grant. I doubt they'd do so for Ingram. Too much risk
I could see them doing a top4 protected, or same with a swap. That is much more likely than this two FRP Joe is supposedly holding out for.
Bucks up 22-3 against Detroit in preseason, even though Detroit is playing their regular season starters. Dame has 9.
Bucks rested all of their starters after the 1st half, the Pistons did not. https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401716954
Pistons starters only played half the game. Some of them, less. Pistons bench scored most of the points.
