Right now i just started my 401k at my job. 8% with 8% match.

First time I've ever put in for retirement. Social security on the other hand lol.

My 20s is just mistake ridden, gotta start somewhere.

It really is! The toughest part for me is readjusting to my current paycheck with that money being diverted. But it's great to finally do it. Hated i waited so long but I got 20-25 years.

Oh and also I'm doing everything post tax cause the man can fuck me now but he ain't gonna fuck me when I'm old and gray.

    Hmm... poor choice of words.

    I'm 66 now. What??

Anyway, I have no plans to retire. I like what I do, like the money, and think I would be bored. All of my pals who are retired have WAY too much time on their hands. Slow down? Sure. But retire? No.

I like this quote from Clint Eastwood when someone asked him how he was still making movies at 90. And he said -

"I don't let the old man in."

    That's my new motto.

Yeah our company has a great union. Pay raises and it went from 4 to 8 this year.

Speaking of aging rockers, happy birthday to one taken from us but never forgotten.

I read the news today, oh boy.

    I’m out at 56. I’m 38 years old now.

I’ll have 32 pension years in when I’m 56. Which will make my pension equivalent to what I bring in now.

The 401k will be the fun money.

My dad stressed thinking about retirement early. I heeded his advice.

My job isn’t a lifestyle I want to be doing any longer than I need to.

Don’t forget how expensive Gonzaga will be for that kid of yours. It’s $83,000 a year right now, just imagine in 18 years what it will be.

May i ask what you do?

Like you said, wish I thought of it sooner, but if I can get 25 good years of savings in coupled with SS I should be fine.

I’ll just pull out of my 401k.

But I’m not one of those people who think college is the only way.

Godspeed, brother. Everything you said makes sense. Great pay but that is definitely a "get the pension, get the retirement, cause we done at 55" job.
