    Wow, hope springs a turtle.

Or do you mean Scoot now reminds you of what Westbrook will be in a couple of years, because then I kind of agree.

Here's my main take on Scoot: he's lost confidence in his handle because NBA players can pick him with ease. That's why he never penetrates. His handle was highschool great, but it's NBA bad.

In general, he looks like he has no self-belief. Probably because assholes keep running him down on the internet.

How about we revisit this conversation in a couple years. At this point of Westbrooks career he was practicing at UCLA.

I honestly can't understand anyone who thinks that Scoot has anything close to Westbrook's athleticism.

I see the athleticism I’m just not sure the killer mentality? You have to admit Russ was not afraid of anything.

I've asked this before, and I'll ask it again: what exactly is Scoot good at?

We were told his shot needed work. That's putting it mildly.
We were told he was super athletic. He just isn't.
We were told he's a great passer. Does anyone see it? As far as I can tell he's mediocre at best and "not really a point guard" at worst.
He can't finish at the rim.
    And as for his defense....

So...? He's strong, I guess, but that's only useful if you're good at finishing. He's not exactly drawing tons of FT attempts, is he?

Russ was on a whole nother level athletically than Scoot. Even the Morant, Rose, Wall were all clearly above Scoot athletically. Scoot is certainly more athletic than average for an NBA PG but he is not in that top tier nor close to a player like Russ.

Agree with the comments that I was much more hopeful of Telfair in his second season than I am with Scoot now. Telfair was traded after his second year for the pick that became Roy. I doubt Scoot will have that value after this season.

At this point I think we can mark down in pencil that Scoot was a fail at #3, and is likely a bust. Sure there are some outliner cases where a player turns it around, but at this point the odds are against that happening. I'm not sure Scoot has more potential than Camara or Rupert. Yes Scoot still has some value and upside just like those other two do as well, but its clearly a fail from what we were hoping for at #3.

Morang reported that Scoot tried to player summer league but the Blazers blocked him as he wasn't 100% health wise.

Plenty of things to criticize Scoot for, but this isn't one of them.

Will Scoot jump Ant to take the spot of top whipping boy from Blazer fans?

I’m hoping Scoot pulls it together this year. In his defense, the offense we run is garbage, and not suited for a player like Scoot

That's why I say you can't count on any draft pick. You need to get 4, 5, or 6 high picks in a row for a high chance at a successful rebuild barring extreme luck.

I think he has + ability as a passer. But everything else sucks egregiously. Which is the key problem, it's not as though he's just young and rough around the edges, he truly sucks.

    We've all heard the song before "He's only 19, he's only 20, he's only 21, he's only 22...."
