As long as he plays better defense than Dame did we shouldn't care about the rest of his game, right?

Holy shit, you guys are fickle as shit in here.

One preseason, Scoot is still only 21, and you guys are calling him a bust and other crap?

You guys need to give Scoot 2-4 years to see what he can do. To throw in the towel already or call him a bust is insanity.

You guys wanted to rebuild and get high draft picks and you guys can't even have more patience than 1 preseason past his rookie season for a 21 year old?

You guys have no patience whatsoever..

"At this point I think we can mark down in pencil that Scoot was a fail at #3, and is likely a bust.

What a joke of a comment, don't know how you can be taken seriously in here with this comment.

Maybe in due time you will be correct, but right now to say that is silly as shit.

Right now Scoot is still inconsistent. We roasted him early last year (in this same thread), and then he had games where he looked good and we praised him.
Now after his first pre-season game, where he struggled, we are back to roasting him again. My guess is we will see more of the same inconsistencies this year.

I get that he has not lived up to the hype from most of the "draft experts" but I doubt we are seeing the finished product.

I’d take a Hall of Fame career from Scoot.

Oh is that what happened? He chose to “skip” summer league?

I noticed he wasn't wearing his normal goggles that he did last season and then in the post game interview he's wearing glasses. Hopefully he's still wearing contacts in the game to see better...

Drawing a long-term conclusion at this point in Scoot's career is hasty.

But I will say that I have been disappointed with his performance so far.

I didn't have sky high expectations for Scoot at the draft (previous post). I was, and still am, just hoping he becomes a solid starter. I would have like to have gotten more than a solid starter at #3, but let's start there.

Scoot's shooting % in G league was really bad too. People were hoping it was just a small sample size, but I think that's just him.

People who don't practice shooting with intention do not shoot well.

If he were to put in quality work with intention he would be a better shooter. It's as simple as that.

I doubt it's anywhere near that simple, seeing as how he trained with Curry.

How often? How many times? Training with Curry a few times isn't going to change anything.

Correct, it's mainly between the head and the confidence. Young players also put to much pressure on themselves to impress, so they start to press more than letting the game come to them.

Look at Scoot's stats post all star break last year after a horrible first few months to the season :

    16.6 PPG -
    7.1 AST
    3.5 REBS
    40.2% FG
    35% 3FG
    1.3 STEALS
    4.5 TO

And his stats in 7 games in April when he got free rant to run the team and got 36.7 MIN Per game

    19.4 PPG
    9.7 AST
    3.4 REB
    41.7 FG %
41.7 3P FG on 6.9 attempts per game
    5.3 TO'S
    1.3 STEALS

He needs to clean up his FG % and turnovers, but there rest of the stats are solid for a 20 year old at the time that never played college ball.

I really wonder how many of you in here have actually even played basketball before in any type of competitive setting or heck even touched a basketball. Some of the things said on here are just baffling at times.

Crazy. After he had been in practice with the team every day for months getting shots up he became a more consistent shooter... It's almost like getting the consistent competitive reps made a difference...
