not for a long time. I'm too old to deal with the chaos (and my bladder has shrunk!...that's an issue with 50 stair steps between my bladder and a urinal) Last time was Fright Night against USC in 2009. Now, that was a loud loud game
I've been lucky to have been at most the super loud games. Fright Night was top 3-5 loudest I've heard Autzen. Saturday was the loudest for the longest I've heard. 2002 Michigan, 2014 Michigan St, 2018 Washington were all up there.
That punt block felt like it was up there for loudest single moment at Autzen. I think that got surpassed on Saturday also.
A&M fans were trying to say that Stewart is toxic but all the clips of that guy is him being an awesome teammate and having a blast.
5* DT Jahkeem Stewart interviews post Ohio State are starting to come out. Rivals just posted one this morning with him glowing about the trip, relaying coaches (especially DL) spending an unexpected amount of time with him and his family and how great the game experience was. I love the article's closing quote about Eugene itself... "It was great. It was a great, great part. You know, it was green all over. In Eugene, the grass is always greener like they say. And seeing different colors on the trees, you know, we don't really get to see that out [in New Orleans]. It's crazy, so it opened up my eyes a lot more. But there's a lot I could say about Eugene that I love about it. It's all good and it's a great, great town. No distractions, no distractions at all." STOMP
you were at Fright Night too then. That was a great game to be my swan song. I have been forever grateful to have been living in Alaska in 1983 which kept me from from attending the Toilet Bowl.....sheeeeeesh. That might have ruined all sports for me forever **************************************************** I used to live in Eugene. Went to the UofO then stayed there for a decade after. I was lucky enough to have known some of the Oregon Greats. Was on a 'how's it going' basis with Dan Fouts before he matriculated to the NFL; then many years later I did some work on his house at Black Butte ranch (he didn't really remember me until I jogged his memory, and maybe not even then). I knew Steve Prefontaine pretty well. His GF and my GF were in the same sorority. I saw him drinking beer after midnight at a party once, and later that day he set an American record in the 10,000M (or maybe it was the 3-mile). I was on a howdy basis with Mac Wilkins too. I was pretty good friends with Doug Little and Gerald Willett. You'll need to be a pretty big Duck fan to know those names I was in Mac Court when the Ducks knocked off unbeaten UCLA and Bill Walton. Saw lots of games when the Pit was in it's roof-shaking glory. I saw a lot of great track meets at Hayward Field, especially back in the day when dual meets were a thing all that shows when my 'going to the game' days were, and for football? Yikes there were some bad Duck teams. Maybe that's why my bias says that the godfather of modern Duck football was as much Mike Bellotti as Phil Knight (Rich Brooks gets credit for elevating the program from the toilet to semi-credible) ****************************************************** glad to hear that Autzen reclaimed it's glory and surpassed it. I've been told that the intensity of the crowd, the last few years, hasn't been quite what it used to be. Baby Boomers have low metabolism you know
the Duck moderator at On3 says that Burch will 'probably' miss 3-4 weeks. Means he'll likely miss the Michigan game
Damn i did not expect Dan Lanning to have a body like Micheal rappaport circa mid 90s who looks like he could either be making breakfast on an old ass skillet or saying "I got next" down at the rec center.
ok!...that rings a bell Taylor Electric I heard of back then. associated with the Ducks and also in construction. That was my early days as a construction contractor.
Awesome history with the Ducks you have! Yes, I'd agree Autzen's intensity has gone down over the years overall. I think some of it has to do with the fans being spoiled, some of it was the stupid student section ticket system they had for a while, and I'm guessing the price of a ticket has made it a little more corporate. It was a good crowd against Michigan St and a 10/10 against the Buckeyes!
Unbelievable 2nd half when Ohio St was supposed to be so good coming out of the half in making adjustments. 19 yards on 12 carries.....un-freakin'-believable!
