you mean the 6'8 forward who played 19 minutes and grabbed exactly 0 rebounds?

Sounds a lot like a forward the Blazers already have on the team

Does he model his game after Jerami?

Yeah, but your post read kind of like an "I told you so". No one is going to give him the credit he deserves for scoring 23 points against Ulm.

As of right now, all we can do is gauge Scoot on his body of work, which is that he is terrible on BOTH ends of the floor. He's most comparable to Dennis Smith Jr.

Its rare for a player this bad to improve to anything above average. If he weren't a #3 pick he'd probably be a 3rd stringer on with one foot out the door of the NBA, heading over-seas where he can look good against teams like Ulm.

And the Blazers want to trade Simons for a pick and hitch their wagon to this guy? It would be a massive mistake.

Wait? Someone on here said they can make a highlight reel to make any player look good?

right, he drove to the hole at will against lesser athletes. The key to unlocking things for him against NBA comp is an improved jumper & he's all of 20 so that may come

Simons isn't good enough to hitch a wagon to anyway so he is irrelevant.

If Scoot is not good enough we'll draft or trade for his replacement. Like we did with Telfair.

Either way, I haven't decided to hitch a wagon to any of the young guys. We aren't at that point yet as an organization. They haven't proven anything. Grant and Simons have proven neither are good enough to hitch a contender to. And their value is only diminishing at this point. The longer we keep them the less value we will get in return.

Unless they start helping us win more games. Which would be a disaster for draft position this year and we'd likely never recover the opportunity cost out of them in trade. The risk/reward for that just doesn't pencil out.

It definitely wasnt a told you so, it was the fact that you guys are fickle as shit about a 21 year kid that didn’t play college ball. Why don’t you look up stats for guys like Jamal Murray and Garland for example and see how they looked their first year, and many more.

You can gauge him on the body of work but it’s laughable to call him a 3rd string, someone so bad can’t improve and all that other bs you said. His stats post All star game last year was not bad at all, but you just want to be negative.

You guys don’t want to have patience with a 21 year old playing PG, the hardest position in the league.

if you thought Scoot was going to come in the NBA and make a huge splash right away then your expectations were too high. He needs time and if you can’t see that and want to call him a bust and etc already, then you don’t know basketball and it’s that simple.

I’m not disappointed by Scoot so far because I knew it would take time, and I also mentioned from what I saw out of him in the G- League, he reminded me of Eric Bledsoe.

Like this tool bag. He just doesn’t stop…..he honestly believes we were choosing between Miller and Scoot.

Not sure what posting this is saying. I simply shared video of Scoot having a quality game. If you are coming on a forum and blasting a player for playing shitty, you should step up when he plays well. Thats all I’m saying…..and you go and share this……nevermind….I see who I’m replying to.

Folks are so lazy bringing up Miller in context to Scoot. We didn't have a chance at Miller. We had a chance at Amen, who by the way, looks really really good.

I'm not writing Scoot off at all. I still expect big things from him, but I think people should expect him to really get going in year 3 like other G League standouts.

Why do people care if other fans expect a lot or little or are high or low or extremely happy or extremely disappointed with Scoot? I understand expecting whatever YOU want to expect.... But shouldn't other people be free to have whatever opinion THEY want to have of Scoot?

If you want to believe Scoot will be a star then go ahead, he was an elite prospect so there is a factual basis for that.

If you want to believe Scoot is a bust then go ahead, he had a very bad rookie year so there is a factual basis for that.

But if you want to continue to complain about us drafting Scoot instead of Brandon Miller (like that was an option) then YOU @AldoTrapani should understand that take is a special kind of terrible... the absolutely factually inaccurate kind.
