I remember as a kid watching cartoons on Saturday morning and then the docuseries, World At War, would air. Jarring as fuck. That open intro with the fire and people intense.
I think the implication is the way Walz speaks of his time serving. He uses alot of ambiguous verbiage that implies he might have been in some hot zones. I’ve seen it in a few interviews, it’s sort of obvious what kind of picture he’s trying to paint.
Walz is certainly guilty of exaggerating, if for no other reason than to perhaps make a larger point. And "stolen valor" is a rather ambiguous term. But if there is one thing J.D. Vance is willfully (perhaps even gleefully) guilty of is what I would called "voluntarily surrendered honor". Honorable veterans DO NOT disparage other veterans for any other reason than actual cowardice in the face of battle. Honorable veterans thank their fellow veterans with "thank you for your service", or at least otherwise acknowledge their service. Everyone's military service is its own experience. Tim Walz gave 24 years of honorable service to this country. J.D. Vance served 4 years......and then voluntarily surrendered his honor. There is no place in our government for morally empty people like that.
Of course, that is essentially what some have accused Walz of. Well, one guy specifically, but he's certainly put out a lot of info supporting that accusation.
