If we keep Chauncey we'll have guys not develop here and they'll go blow up someplace else, imo.

Dude's in way over his head.

I'd much prefer a more developmental guy. Hell, I'd go grab a guy like Drew Hanlen if nothing else.

Assistants teach and develop players. Not head coaches.

    The coach hires the assistants...

One more tank year, then we need to fire Billups and years end and hire a real coach.

Team option for next year. If Cronin picks it up, Blazer fans should decend on their HQs with pitch forks and torches.

Sometimes. Many times they are hired by the GM and they quite often stay after a coach gets fired. Usually a new hire will bring in some coaches he wants and usually that is a pretty good sign of how successful he might end up but if you bring in a rookie coach the best you’ll get is a retread. Pretty much like Scotty Brooks was.

It seems pretty clear that Billups and these assistants aren't getting it done.

They've had more than enough time to make this team look like a cohesive unit... even if they are missing shots. But the spacing is terrible, the communication is terrible... They just look like a disorganized mess.

Guys don't look like they know what they're supposed to be doing.

There are people out there who can do better than that. I think bringing in a quality developmental staff would be well worth it. Even if we think all we have to do is just let Chauncey go to get him out of the way of our current developmental staff.

What makes no sense to me is that the template is pretty clear, shown by Golden State and OKC. right before our eyes in our arena.

You work to get open 3-point shots, or go to the hoop, and play tenacious, hounding defense.

Grant and Simons should be set up all game for such shots, and if they aren't making them, they should be replaced.

Camara, Rupert and Banton seem to be much improved from the 3-point line, and Ayton and Clingan don't look so bad there either.

This is what Billups goal on offense seems to be to me:

Get Simons some shots, get Grant some shots, get Ayton some shots. What kind of shot doesn't matter.

Get Simons and Grant a lot of playing time, no matter the quality/effect of their efforts.

Seemingly, the Blazers can't win with without Grant and Simons. (Even though Grant only scored 8 points on 3-14 shooting against the Clippers. Grant is indispensable.

Grant could not be replaced by Murray in the Clipper game. Murray shot 2-4 and had 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in 19 minutes. Grant played 34 minutes and had 3 rebounds.)

Everyone else, like Murray, gets the leftovers.

Certainly is time for him to go now. Pathetic wins when they should be losing. I'd rather have an S2 knuckle head coach them this season.

Last season Chauncey began the season with a starting back-court of Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson with Shaedon Sharpe, who ended his rookie season with glimpses of something special ahead, coming off the bench.

I think that 0 (ZERO) S2 knuckle-head coaches would ever have a starting unit of Simons and Henderson, and certainly would not have Sharpe coming off the bench. That was an absolute joke.

I don't know who is telling whom to do what, but if Billups is responsible for that BS there's no way I trust him.

And in the latest development, was it Billups who made Ayton injured? Or was Billups simply forced to start Clingan?

If the team continues to play like they have the last two games, Chauncey will get my respect. He had clearly lost it Sunday against Memphis but somehow, turned it around. See how the young players develop up to the all-star break and revisit Chauncey as a coach then.

Agree with the Ant/Scoot lineup. Forces Scoot to be a spot up shooter. No idea about Clingan starting. Was hoping maybe Ayton was being held out ahead of a trade.
