the writing was on the wall a year ago. Oregon threw the Beavers a bone by agreeing to the home & home. But I've been told that the powers-that-be at the UofO had no interest in continuing the series, especially not as a home & home this seems like a 'you're-fired/I-quit' situation with both sides wanting an end to the series
I remember when the Ducks kept losing recruits to that pesky Lupoi at both Cal and Washington. He’s always been a great recruiter. Then you add in Lanning. Oh baby babay!
"Hope to pick it up later in the decade" This to me sounds like "Let's see if we can be competitive before scheduling anymore" Personally, I think they can be once they figure out the smarter way to recruit. If Boise Stae, Fresno State, Cincinnati, etc etc etc can..... there is no reason why the Beaves can't
I remember a big time DE that ended up going to Cal. Can’t put my finger on the name right now though
Probably Gabe King. He, Keenan Allen & Chris McCain were teammates at a North Carolina HS and were thought to be a potential package deal for Oregon but ended up going to Cal. IIrc, King battled knee injuries in college and didn't do that much STOMP
Yup, the Ducks are thought to have a real shot at Chris Henry Jr but this isn't a recent development. He's from Ohio but has moved out west prior to this school year and is at Mater Dei HS in SoCal. Thats the same powerhouse HS that Oregon already has 2 top recruits from for his 2026 class. They also have 2 top recruits for the current 2025 class from Mater Dei and landed 2 more in 2024. Henry has visited Eugene several times and expressed what seems sincere interest. It's also been reported that his family would much prefer he stay closer to home preferring Oregon over tOSU. Rivals has him as the #2 overall 2026 recruit. Oregon is also said to be a real contender for the #1 recruit OT Jackson Cantwell. Heck glancing over rivals current top 100 recruits for 2026, I count 17 guys who have either recently visited Eugene and left with glowing quotes or have given their verbal to UO. I'd be surprised if there aren't several other names on that list that I didn't recognize... I'm very likely under counting. STOMP
Lanning was the best hire any would could ever imagine. I remember John Crapzano shitting all over it when it happened. He thought the Ducks were fools for not hiring the coaching prodigy Dave Aranda.
I can't remember anything JC said as I generally avoid lazy pot stirring gossip columnists with clearly established anti-Duck biases. btw, it's being reported that 2025 TE and UW verbal Vander Ploog is visiting again for Illinois which probably puts him on eminent flip watch. The other potential flip to Oregon with all sorts of smoke is elite 2026 DB and USC verbal Brandon Lockhart. On the downside of flip watch is 2025 Duck verbal Brandon Finney who is expected to turn to Penn State. https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/brandon-lockhart-301110?view=pv STOMP
