    Not just our fathers! My mother served in the Navy during World War II. So did a lot of other women in all branches of service, plus Women's Air Service Patrol, who delivered planes to our forces by flying them.

    My grandmother who was a big Blazers fan did as well. That’s how my grandparents met. They met in the Navy in San Diego. Grandpa was a Portland native from immigrants who fled Germany to Russia to Canada to Portland. My grandma was one of 14 from a teeny tiny town in North Dakota
