He looked really good that one game against Utah in Utah with Sharpe, Nurk, Thybulle, and a bunch of bench players. Dame had 30 points and 12 assists in that game. There was no Simons or Grant.
Actually the problem isn’t that they can’t play defense it’s more that they missed 21 threes in the first half and that leads to fast break points. Watching what is happening tells a different story.
Honestly, might not be a bad trade to do after the off-season (esp if they get #1 or #2). BUT it'd never happen.
and yet y'all think it's a tank team with Scoot instead. I really struggle to follow the logic of Blazer fans. Yes, Dame is a great scorer, but I think it's becoming somewhat apparent that he might not be the game changer y'all try to sell.
For me the goal is to compete for championships. Dame on this roster maybe makes it into the playoffs if everything goes perfectly but definitely not a contender and of course he's 34 and declining. I dont understand how thats what anyone is pining for STOMP
I don't think anybody is serious about it. We'd need another star along with Dame. And he's just too old now to consider messing with our rebuild. I'd rather get picks if possible.
Yeah, I sure as hell wasn't pining for him back on the team. I was just saying this roster would be good for him, as it's not undersized, and actually plays defense (not great defense, but defense non the less). Can't shoot for shit (yet). Let me be clear, I am not suggesting, hoping or wanting them to trade for him. If he ever returns to Portland as a player, it could only be as a free agent in 3 years, and at that point, he should be the backup.
Feel bad for dame. But controlling 3 years of bucks drafts at the end of this decade is starting to look great.
Transition defense is a part of defense. Before tonight Bucks were 24th in the NBA in defensive efficiency. But it was also a problem last year - they were only 19th in the NBA last year. Season before Dame was there the Bucks were 4th in the NBA in defensive efficiency. I don't think it was a coincidence the Bucks won a title with Jrue playing defense and the Celtics won the title with Jrue playing defense last season. Dame is great in many ways. But it's very hard to build a title winning roster with such a limited short poor defender on a supermax contract. We're seeing that's the case even when he is paired with arguably the best player in the league.
Starting to??? Man I was stoked when the deal was announced just looking at the age of the Bucks roster and knowing how few of their picks they've got in the coming years to restock the shelves. I sure hope that the franchise has the patience to wait until that fruit is ripe and don't sell those assets pennies on the dollar. STOMP
Yeah that was the big part of the Deni trade I didn't like, that we sold the 2029 pick which could be as high as #2 overall.
