How can people be so bent over winning a few games when two years ago we won 33 and landed the 3rd pick but last year won ten games less (23) and landed the 7th pick? Don't those facts prove a few wins don't really matter that much? There is a reason its called a lottery…..
here's some other 'facts': the Spurs had the 2nd worst record that season with 22 wins and ended up with Wembanyana as the 1st pick. Orlando had the 2nd worst record the season before and landed Banchero with the first pick; Minny had the 3rd worst record in 2019-20 and drafted Anthony Edwards with the first pick
Busy and doing well! just waiting for the call to come hang out back with you and Tristan one of these days again! How are things with you?
exactly. Its fixed. That's why i believe a few more or less wins don't mean shit. Nba doesnt want Ptown to be good and on tv because we wont get views from the east. We aren't getting the number one pick regardless of increasing our odds a few percentage points. People freaking out about a win here or there are being unreasonably upset. Their right.. but nauseating it is to read day in and day out the same negativity.
It's not fixed. More losses increase the odds of better draft position. Nobody is out to make Portland bad and they certainly aren't cheating the draft to do it.
That increase in odds isnt significant enough to mean alot, as indicated by our last two draft years. Others can feel free to spend the year complaining about a win or two and trades not happening. Not worth the negative energy that puts this place in, to me.
Well, I'd like to enjoy watching them. I can't enjoy watching Simons and Grant dominate the offense and refuse to give effort on defense or rebounding. I have some hope that Ayton may be useful in the longer term, so he doesn't bother me. As long as they are putting a bad product on the floor I'll discuss that bad product. A much better product would be shipping those guys off for draft capital and letting the young guys take over. Maybe not a winning product, but definitely much better.
Try paying attention to the games rather than rely on preconceived notions. Both of them are doing much better in that regard.
They may be doing better but they are shooting far more than anybody else on the team. The offense looks like ass when they are in. No spacing, guys aren't moving. I've watched enough to know I'm not interested in making it a priority.
That part is fair, but you said, "and refuse to give effort on defense or rebounding." Their improved energy in those categories says the effort is there. As far as dominating the offense, Grant doesn't do that nearly as much as he's scapegoated for. Most of his 3's are catch-and-shoot, and anything closer to the hoop is usually a quick drive and spin. He rarely over-dribbles the ball. Simons is a different matter, as he's basically incapable of making easy shots in the flow of the offense. He has to up the degree of difficulty dramatically for the ball to go through the hoop, and that means lots of freelancing.
True, I may be still frustrated from prior seasons so when I see a hint of bad habit (Grant missing blockouts or Simons pounding the ball) it turns me off right away. You're right, I've just lost patience with them. If they could turn it all around and fix those flaws I'd be more than happy with these guys. I'm not seeing enough and it hasn't been sustained enough to impact my opinion of them. But I hope their efforts add to their trade value.
I actually like Grant's play a lot better this year, which is why I'd trade him last of the three. He's a crappy forward, but I kinda like him as our starting SG. But Anfernee still can't play the point but also still has to have the ball in his hands to be effective, and Deandre is average at best on D and downright annoying on O. A couple of games back we got a few lob dunks off him and that was fun, but I think it's too easy for teams to take that away from him. If Timelord ever gets healthy then Ayton should be shipped out (assuming somebody wants him.)
If scoot becomes even an average shooter then he arguable was worth the pick. He still makes a lot of mistakes so the best thing to do is play him for 35 min a game.
I agree and it's weird that he seems to be the one they are trying to trade first. I suspect that is because the other two have no trade value. I would still get rid of them as long as we didn't have to send picks out with them.
