You cut down a tree for a kitten? Wow.

Yessir. And I went out today and planted five walnut tree seeds around the one that was cut.

I could see cutting down a walnut tree for a dog....but a cat? :dunno:

Did you hire an arborist? Usually they have climbing gear.

No. We had three fire companies, though, and a bucket truck from a tree cutter. But every time they went for her, she went higher in the tree. She started at 40 feet and ended up at 70 feet.

I don't expect it to work, but I've also tried a graft from the cut tree. It wasn't completely detached from the stump. It was cut enough that it fell at about a 75-80-degree angle into two even taller pine trees, which gave the kitten a couple of ways to come down. She eventually crawled down the walnut tree.

When I went back today, I put the wedge that was cut out of the walnut tree back in as far as I could.

Like I said, I don't expect it to work, but with the main part of the tree still partly attached to the stump and root and still extended almost 90 degrees, I didn't think it would hurt. The seeds I planted came from the tree that was cut, too.

Chainsaw. Wedge out of one side and a straight cut on the other.

She didn't fall. She hung on and since the walnut tree fell into the two bigger pines, she spent the time alternating between the canopy of the three trees.

First light this morning, I went to check on her, because she'd been up there two days and I was worried about dehydration, but she saw me and finally was brave enough to crawl down the trunk of the walnut tree and I carried her home.

Her head's crooked. She had an accident this summer that led to her having a couple of seizures and spending a week in the hospital. They thought they were going to have to put her to sleep but they let me visit her for a couple of hours late at night and she started to eat and came home a couple of days later.

Her name's Mikasa after an anime character.

Well this is foolish. They wouldn’t need climbing gear for freshly planted trees.

That's got to be blamed on coaching.

Yes, not the players on the court who aren’t playing D or making shots. Let’s blame the coach. #FireStotts

I just figured, because I'm not a coach, that 3rd quarter is when most adjustments are made. I'd that's our worst quarter, it's suspicious.
