Politics Official 2024 Presidential Election Thread

I was told on here Harris was going to win……sigh…..this one is going to hurt.

 

What kind of burrito did you chow down?

I had burgerville and a glass of Chianti

 

Curious if this would've gone worse had Joe stayed in the race. I was leaning a narrow Harris victory, but had no Lichtman keys type of reasoning as to why that was going to happen. I wonder how that guy is feeling tonight. Trump is always in some sort of chaos that is more related to his personal feelings, which is why I believe a lot of the worst case scenarios running through heads right now won't come to fruition. I think more than anything else I wanted Trump to lose so the whole 2010s political scene could be put to bed. I'm so sick of this culture wars bullshit, it's like the hangover from hell.

 

The best I was ever able to do was say "I'm voting against Trump". "Anybody is better than Trump."

 

I think Biden would have lost by more. He simply looked too weak.

 

I was told genocide and Cheney endorsements would not stop Kamala from winning...

 

Neither of these factored into the election at all, turns out.

 

Trump voters were overwhelmingly motivated by hatred for trans people and a desire to curtail or eliminate trans rights, according to the AP voter exit polls.

Transphobia was the primary wedge issue and it worked. They spent $140 for every trans person in America to run those ads and it paid rich dividends. There will be a lot of us dead because of this.

 

I know we don't have the data yet, but this election surely debunks the myth that every woman under 40 in America is purely motivated politically by abortion.

 

Those two factors sealed my fate as a non voter this year. I know a mail in vote for a Democrat in Chicago wasn't going to decide the election or anything, but the whole neo-con rehabilitation as a form of coalition building explanation was not all that compelling to me.
