So far all of Shaedon's minutes seem to have come at the expense of Kris Murray, and it seems like I'm the only one (besides, possibly, Kris) sad about that. But I think we work best with only one of Ant/Scoot/Shaedon on the floor at the same time, with the other four players plus defenders. When you have two shitty defenders on the floor at the same time it doesn't really matter how good the other 3 are. You can hide at most one bad defender (and even Ant seemed to be trying when he was surrounded by people like Camara and Avdija or Rupert). So long as you play Avdija I think you can have Sharpe be on the court without either of the other two, to be honest, and I'd be kind of intrigued to see that. See if he can be a kind of Lamelo Ball type. As I said in the game thread, I've been enjoying 4-players-6'9" or taller and plus defenders version of the Blazers that we've been seeing and I'd hate to go back to last year's version of the Blazers. Thoughts?
I imagine Banton's minutes are going to go into the tank pretty quickly once it becomes clear that that 4th-quarter-explosion was, like the famous Martell Webster quarter, a one-off fluke.
I think Ant needs to go more but his value is less I'm sure. Both should be gone. Unfortunately I think we'll have to wait all the way to deadline to see anything, if it even happens.
This is my mindset but obviously I wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised by both getting traded and traded sooner than the trade deadline. We'll just have to wait and see. It's sad that what would surprise me is if Joe made the moves that make the most sense.
Yeah I expect no action and to be disappointed, but that's based on Cronin 4 years of being the GM and holding onto guys until he's forced by finances or the player to make a change. Will be happy if he surprises me. I was critical of the Clippers trade as that seemed very rushed with only weeks from Olshey departing to doing a big move. This time I'll be fine with a worthless return.
I think he has been good for 4 of his last 5 games. good night tonight. shot 4 of 7, went to the line 5 times, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block in 12 minutes. Played tough defense.
Absolutely. You’d have to imagine Cronin knows this and is showcasing them, or he’s just a flat out idiot.
I don't see how this "showcase" could be effective at all so far this season. Cronin track record would indicate he wants a higher return, and he likely won't be able to get that, so they'll be here until the summer.
Long may it continue, although it does create a minutes crunch. If he can really show himself to be a solid defender that will make him a genuinely valuable player, but given how bad he's been on that end, I would be amazed.
