I don’t know where to post this but I can’t stand Danny Marang’s takes. The biggest apologist.

That's why I want Billups gone right now. They could even bring in a guy who wouldn't make a good head coach but could teach these guys how to play right. Work with some drills that might not help them win right now but would get them to rotate quickly on defense, and have some kind of rudimentary offensive plan at least, Work with the young guys on fundamentals and skill development either individually or in groups of two or three,

The expectation is that the team is developing the young guys, but instead all I see is us getting worse and looking uninterested (especially Simons). Doesn't seem like they're developing good habits or even know what the fuck to do out there. If Billups has already lost the team, keeping him around does more harm than good regardless of how many wins you expect.

Who takes over then for Chauncey that will develop this young talent?
This was the point during Stotts tenure where people kept typing, “Anybody is better.”

Nate McMillan is the opposite of Billups.

I will be advocating for Sarge.

I don't know, that's the GM's job. I liked Stotts, didn't want to get rid of him. I personally don't mind Billups either but it's clear that change is needed.

Somebody with a great record of developing players. There are plenty of people out there. Plenty of guys overseas, as well. I'd be alright with Stotts, frankly.

But anybody who is a proven talent developer that you can get. An overall, perhaps as head coach, perhaps let a different guy be the head coach. Then the best developmental PG person, wing person, and post person. Pay them whatever it takes to get them and the ideal staff to support them. Do whatever it takes to help them develop players. Structure games as developmental opportunities, rather than opportunities for wins.

Sarge has a rigid methodical system. It doesn't matter whether it's the best system. The young guys need to learn any structured system. Presently, they aren't learning anything because inexperienced Billups has no system to teach.

Slow learning is why Billups' playing career improved at retarded speed. For 5 years, everyone was surprised at how coach after coach got nothing out of him, a very high pick. When you read the famous Rick Pitino quote of "Bird, McHale, and Parish aren't walking through that door"--that was caused by Billups' not developing. Reporters and fans thought Boston wasn't playing to its expected talent level.

Billups coaches (and talks) as he played the first 5 years. It took several good coaches to structure him. It doesn't come naturally to him.

Sarge is the opposite, the most disciplined Sonic I ever saw (I remember the rookie 25 assists in a game on the radio). Whether he has the best system possible is irrelevant. We need a system. THEN we can critique it and improve it.

First it was lousy hire he shouldn't been the coach if you was going to tear down roster. Plus you can't every year trying to high draft pick because loosing is contagious. Look at Detroit and the nets and others there always in the lottery last 5 plus years. This game was the first really bad game of year that's actually happened to every team here and there. But I believe they got some good young players but right now they got to many individuals players. You might keep billups until the end of season and get rid those players that not going to play with team instead against the team.

McMillan is age 60, younger than I thought. He's had a season off twice in his life...after Portland fired him, and last season. He's now making rookie coach Redick look good. He has a track record of taking over when the head coach fails, but it appears that Redick will last awhile. I bet Nate would accept our job offer.
