It's not a matter of punishing players, simply adjusting minutes on ice per game according to how a player is performing, that is also how promising guys like Laf and Cuylle get needed experience to further develop. GG was run out of town by butthurt players who didn't like getting yelled at or called out including Drury when they were involved in a yelling match undoubtedly regarding softness on the roster. When the march of tears by scorned Rangers with hurt feelings reached Drury's office after the Debs series he should have asked where they wanted to be traded to instead of firing GG. Torts had won a Cup too when he came here but couldn't control his emotions with a good roster and a foolish focus on selling out to block shots.
I totally agree, it is the players not the coaches. And it is the man who decided these players and core should stay together despite it being very clear they are not good enough. I believe people should stop blaming the coachES (again plural) and focus on the man building and keeping together the inferior the team!!
