No one talked about career derailment. We’re talking not paying someone purely on unproven, or at least hardly proven potential. He doesn’t deserve a max, yet. It’s insane to think so.

I agree but the new standard unfortunately is that if you are a lottery pick showing lots of potential and promise you get either the rookie max or close to it. See Franz Wagner, Deandre Ayton, garland, lamelo, all with injuries and not playing consistently at an all star level before getting maxed.

but hopefully like I said he takes the Jalen Suggs deal (5 for 150), similar to the Devin vassel 5 for 135 deal or the similar Jaden McDaniels deal.

It just depends on the rest of the season. I wouldn't give him a rookie max extension today but if he can play like he has the last two games for the rest of the season then I don't think our FO will have much of a choice.

What is crazy is it is clear he is trolling. Per the rules, that isnt acceptable. But the head mod says my behavior is near bannable. I posted facts from a gov website and was called a contrarian for it. I pushed back on that name calling and was told im reaching bannable behavior….
But a mod can just go around belittling season ticket holders, trash the team and only post negative things.
But all is impartial around here. No favoritism or biased moderating/reprimanding at all around here.

I think you have to lock him up regardless of the minor injuries. That could be the reason we lock him up at 5 yrs/$200m and 5 yrs/$270m.

Waiting until his year 4 to do this is going to cost us more in the long run. I don’t think the injuries have been a huge issue, this isn’t Roy and Oden who both had a history of knee issues.

Are you talking about Steph or Seth cause I’m pretty sure that happened in Portland with Seth.

    we are not golden state

I was talking about Steph, obviously, with regards to the prove-it deal because of all the ankle problems. I didn't realize you changed it to Seth, who never went the prove-it deal route. It simply took him a long time to carve out enough of a niche to get much of a contract.

I had thought Seth deal in Portland was basically a prove it deal that he recovered from his injury.

He was little more than a journeyman.

Who is Sharpe’s agent, and how offended will they be by less than the max? Because you can talk prove it deals until the cows come home but that requires several to tango.

Sharpe will probably get the max, because he probably will deserve it.

No player should get a max extension that has never made an all star or all nba team

I don't disagree, but Portland has always paid a tax to keep players here

The CBA is constantly changing the way the market works. It’s not the same as the trader Bob market anymore.

Who out of Desmond Bane, Evan Mobley, Franz Wagner, or Cade Cunningham had an all-star or all-NBA selection on their max extension during the current CBA?

An all NBA selection almost always gets a supermax extension which is a lot more than a normal max extension. The fact is if Shaedon continues to play like he has been this season with the upward trajectory that we've seen he'll more than earn a max extension. If we clear the runway for him by moving Ant and Jerami (mostly Ant) Shae will put up all star numbers... we've already seen it.
