Chip has also switched to a slower more NFL style playcalling in hopes of getting back in the NFL. I think if he went back to his playcalling ways of Oregon he'd be much more successful even today.
Ohio State went into the game against Oregon healthy but lost star LT Josh Simmons for the year in the 2nd quarter. They also lost their RG for much of the game and a TE. Since then they also lost their Center for the year. Injuries are part of football but as it's been noted, Oregon has fared really well avoiding their share of them this year. For a team to win it all they have to be talented, well coached & more then a little bit lucky. STOMP
He did. He also created a system every team in the nation now makes sure they can defend against. Literally every team practices or at least uses some of the methods Chip came up with and used on the regular. Thinking Chip is done or washed up seems a bit obtuse to me. Obviously the Buckeyes were dealing with some pretty devastating injuries this year.
I wasn't aware that she's a Buckeyes fan. I wish she did more college stuff. She seems completely dedicated to the NFL.... which is too bad.
This is how Chip has been for a while. He's the football equivalent of a one hit wonder. He took a system that was new and fresh and rode that sucker to success. But he hasn't done shit since then.
I also think a HUGE component of those Chip teams was simply conditioning. That's why it took a couple years for it to pop with our team. It took that long for OUR guys to get into the level of conditioning to run the offense to the fullest. It's also why we were a second half team. The opposing defense would be so tired by the second half that we would just blow the doors off them. But teams adapted.

Mario Cristobal did the U of O (and the state of Oregon) a huge favor by weaseling out of his contract and going to Miami. He wasn't even a particularly good game coach. That said, I'm still salty about the bullshit, disingenuous way he went about it and have taken a certain vicarious pleasure in Miami's struggles under him. So watching them lose to an unranked Syracuse team yesterday and tumble seven spots all the way out of the Top Ten has me laughing my ass off. We lucked out with Lanning.
