a 6'4, 240 lb LB/Safety hybrid. Lots of teams including Oregon will be chasing him **************************************************************** ***************************************************************** this might be a direction if Jordan James doesn't return
Ohio State and Texas proved they aren’t the best teams by losing to Michigan and Georgia. Frankly, a random “re-seed” after the first round or whatever is luck of the draw as well. Let’s assume Penn State beats SMU. How do we really know they’re any better than Boise State … unless they played? also, what if they play and Boise State wins? all of a sudden, a re-seed based on human conjecture doesn’t look so good, does it? This is the issue with lack of OOC premium matchups. We really have no clue how these teams stack up against each other.
I don’t get this lopsided bracket narrative let the games play out first what if ASU beats Texas? what if Clemson beats Texas? Notre Dame looks better than Tennessee and Ohio State including the terrible loss to NIU
I think this Duck's team is going to be unfazed by any bracket...they are built to win over whoever lines up across from them. This is their year!
Here are the championship odds, per Las Vegas: Penn St and Notre Dame had much worse odds a week ago, but they moved up after being put on such a weak side of the bracket. The odds imply there are 4 teams in a nearly equal tier. 3 of those 4 teams are in the upper half of the bracket.
What's not to get? You understand probabilities, right? Of course there can be upsets, and there likely will be a couple if you play 12 games. There is a 12-13 game body of work and tons of advanced metrics that support why Texas is better than Boise St. If you think these games are all coin flips, lets make some wagers.
there's still a chance, probably small but there, he could return next season. The Ducks would have to work with the Houston Astros to make it happen
Nobody here has really looked at it from the other side. Oregon is the best team and undefeated, so we should feel like we can beat anybody. I’m sure Ohio State and Texas fans should be up in arms about having to play Oregon next.
Lol tournaments are made so there aren't coin flips. Coin flips aren't upsets. They made the bracket. It'll be revised in the future cause it has a lot of holes. But that's not this year. Win. How people try to argue against something that can't change until after is hysterical. But I'll continue to provide the needed perspective to the delusional! Dan Lanning and company aren't complaining and they are the ONLY ones who can affect this outcome along with the team across from them. They don't complain. They don't whine. Do you know why yall be doing it? Cause you hate that you can't control it. Embrace it. We don't have control of it. It's freeing in a way. Have a great night! Glad i could be the needed perspective!
Who has made the case the bracket this year should be changed? I certainly haven't, nor have I seen it, anywhere. Nor have I seen anyone say Oregon doesn't need to win 3 games to win the championships. The discussion point is about how the bracket is contructed. Saying "just win", doesn't address that. Oregon is likely to play 3 games that are more-or-less "coin flip" games given their draw. Other teams, seeded worse, will not. In case you didn't understain the analogy, "coin flip" = roughly a 50/50%, and was not meant literally. And of course Dan Lanning isn't complaining, why would he do that and put his team at a disadvantage? If I were the coach, I'd say everything he's saying pubically as well. This is a message board, so luckily what we think can be said out loud without impacting the outcome of the tournament. I didn't know we were supposed to only give the coach speak to make sure the players were motivated properly.
correct...one of those red-zone brain-farts by Gabriel earlier in the season. Supposed to be friends with Harmon
The playoff bracket is really messed up. They could rectify it somewhat by doing like the NFL does, and pair round 2 by the lowest seed victor playing the highest seed in the bye. But Oregon seems to have the toughest path of all the bye teams, potentially having to face Ohio State then Texas. Meanwhile, the loser of the Pac 12 title game will get Boise St in round 2...
The inability by some in this thread to acknowledging that seedings in sports is always done by pairing the highest ranked and lowest ranked players/teams in the opening brackets, and the reasons for doing it that way, is baffling. And making the excuse that it's okay because it's the first year of the 12 team format is just plain stupid. As if, gee, too bad there isn't a hundred years of precedent to draw from, SMH. Why would anyone just assume they'll do it right next year after they screwed the pooch so badly this year? The seedings are so unbalanced I can only assume they did it on purpose. Whatever, I am not and I am not going to bitch about it. But some of the arguing here misses the point completely.
