Also, aldridge was acquired by trade with chicago for tyrus thomas Roy Aldridge Durant That is a championship core
Well sure. But even with Brandon Roy reducing our tanking plans - we got the #1 overall pick. There was just so much more to be excited about with the rebuild of those teams outside of the 2 brief years with heavy losses. I don't understand how someone could try to use that era as an example of WORSE years to be a Blazers fan than what we are going through now. That era was MUCH better IMO.
That era was better because we thought it was very temporary and would be over soon. That expectation derived from 1) a big-spending owner, 2) a structured experienced coach Nate McMillan, and 3) the biggest reason was our inexperience with losing--we couldn't imagine the losing would last long, and we would revert to the mean of our long established record of winning (which started with the Bill Walton draft and ended when the racist Oregonian forced out Bob Whitsitt to sell newspapers). But those 3 reasons are long-gone now, so the present dilemma has no end in sight. Its advocates post here that it will go on for years and years. That's why I'm disappointed in both the Little Scooter pick, and his glacial improvement. His smiling mediocrity shakes up the board's mantra that future top picks will ever bail us out of this hole, if he's what to expect. The media remembers Billups' late career as a Hall of Famer, but I remember Billups as ruining a couple of NBA head coaches due to the retarded speed of his development.
Exactly. And the decision to take character into account when scouting players didn't hurt, either. I bought my season tickets in part because the Blazers were shit-canning knuckleheads, and I was perfectly willing to watch good guys play hard at bad basketball, if necessary.
I think Roy might have been good enough that year to drag that team into the playoffs even with Tyrus Thomas instead of Aldridge, lol...
Please forgive me for not having proper forum etiquette. I will never forgive myself now for not gaslighting, using passive aggressive behavior and ignoring facts while doubling down on falsities. I definitely should stretch truths to magnificent hyperbole to make other posters look bad. And when i see this happen, I should just agree, like and laugh with the person in the face of them being rude, belittling, stating out right lies and trying to twist their faults/errors on others. Deflection snd projection and hyperbole is apparently proper forum etiquette. I am such a loser for not conforming!
