Our 3-guard lineup played a combined zero minutes of college ball... I can't imagine that has anything to do with the angst across the fan base regarding the direction of the team and whether the future core is on the roster yet.
New article in the Athletic with a Scoot section: Figuring out Scoot Henderson: It’s becoming more clear that Scoot Henderson likely isn’t the “transcendent talent” GM Joe Cronin thought when he took the point guard No. 3 in 2023. Now, the next question becomes whether Henderson is even the point guard of the future for the Blazers. Figuring out the answer should be at the top of Portland’s to-do list. Although Henderson is averaging 26 minutes per game, having him come off the bench while Anfernee Simons plays 30 minutes seems counterproductive. Bump up Henderson’s playing time, pair him with clear-cut long-term pieces Donovan Clingan, Toumani Camara and Deni Avdija and see whether he is indeed the right player to be heading this rebuild. — Jason Quick
not till Shaedon decides he is Last night was a perfect example. seemed more aggressive than usual and then completely dissapeared. last night he should have easily had 20 pts. he finished with 11
Not exactly sure which group is preparing the crow and who is eating it but there definitely seems to be one or the other. Right now the naysayers are cooking as it seems.
As soon as Ant and grrrrAnt are traded, only then we can truly evaluate Shaedon Sharpe if he is Kobe Bryant or Harrison Barnes
Kobe Bryant took the starting spot from 3x all-star Eddie Jones - but you think he would've been held back by 0x all-star Ant and Grant?
When do we change the title of this thread to "eating crow about eating crow about Scoot". There's no improvement from his rookie year. He still has an abysmal TS% of 50%. He has one of the highest turnover rates in the league at 20.7%, which is actually worse than his rookie year. For comparison, if he qualified minutes wise, that would rank as 3rd highest in the league. He's not exactly a good defender. He just sucks right now. All he's good for is helping the team lose.
Scoot has been very bad. Even if we trade Ant, I'm not sure if I'd prefer seeing the bulk of those minutes going to Scoot or going to Banton/someone else.
Are those vets actually helping the other team guard Scoot? Or tugging on his jersey when he's trying to defend?
I think I might be fine with just getting rid of Ayton or Ant. The team was 10x better to watch without Ayton Friday night. Grant looked great supporting Sharpe against Minnesota twice. Ideally yeah we get rid of two of those guys - but mostly I just want one of Ant Ayton off the team ASAP!
Are Scoots strengths being used properly. He is, by all accounts, a playmaker. It is frustrating to see him playing off the ball frequently. Too frequently imho. He is pretty good at drawing fouls; as good as anyone except JG probably. He should get to the line more than 5x a game or until opponents change schemes
