just looked on SD. The latest thing the poster said was that it was about a couple of "would be" starters next season. That's some elite level of back-track

Before I read any of this I was worrying about who the portal guys would affect the most. My main concerns were the young DBs.

This portal stuff needs to be restricted to after the bowl season and playoffs. What a disaster for bowl teams and their fans who show up for a bowl without the players who made them a bowl-worthy team and got them there in the first place.

can't be done, IMO, because of the academic calendars. Needs to happen in December otherwise the players can't be eligible for spring ball for any school on a semester system

besides that, I seriously doubt eliminating the winter portal would survive a legal challenge

That could still describe some important guys to this run. Sadiq still fits that.

Since this isn't the NBA or NFL, I'd seriously pursue legal action against a school that tampers. I think you could demonstrate real damages because of the loss of a key player. Slap Florida with a multi-million dollar lawsuit for tampering with Dallas Wilson.

Well I’ve hated the Broncos long before Nix was there. So for me it’s the Chargers.

Herbert all the way. Not even sure how this is a question.

unless a specific player signs a contract with a school that has provisions prohibiting him, or a representative talking to another collective (which may not even be a legal contract) I don't see how any tapering rule could be enforced. Collectives aren't technically the schools, not legally at least. Yeah, we all know what's going on, but still, there's plenty of cover there

there's simply too much separation between the player-->his school-->the collective for that school-->the player's representative-->the collective for another school-->the other school.

If anyone is tampering it’s the agents of the players

they’re the ones who approach teams and say hey how much could this guy get

then they go to the player and say hey if you enter the portal I can get you x amount

I'm not sure there are any enforceable tampering laws without a anti-trust exemption and a CBA in place....which will never happen. There's no legal authority preventing athletes from hiring agents. And there's no legal authority I know of preventing agents from contacting NIL collectives; and preventing those collective from making offers

yeah, it's kind of a wild west right now; chaos. But as somebody with a throat issue once said: "chaos is a ladder"

Just in case anyone is interested, Ty Thompson is starting today for Tulane vs. Florida.

I’m kind of excited to watch how he does. Probably the biggest stage he’s ever had to show his talents.

This should turn out to be a really impactful add. With them almost certain to lose all 3 of their big boys up front (Harmon could return but...), it's nice to have a stud upperclassman to join the young talent they've signed in the past couple classes especially since he has history with Lanning. Bear probably best projects in Harmon's starting DT role. Really looking forward to seeing which of the younger guys step up next season into the DL rotation besides A'Mauri. I've heard from insider types that they really like what Rushing has shown mostly in practice... with the portal transfers of Winston and Jaxson Jones we may get to see him play more in the upcoming playoff games. If Rushing is ready, I could see them sliding Uiagalelei into Burch's DE role and have Rushing step in for Mateo at OLB/DE. Replacing Caldwell at Nose is a bit of concern, though Terrance Green and Jericho Johnson have the measurables. I love my Ducks!

it probably won't happen but with the Diego Pavia ruling granting an injunction against the NCAA's junior college eligibility rule, it's possible Caldwell could file a challenge and be granted another year of eligibility since he spent a year at a JC. He's been rumored to be graded as a day 3 draftee, so a decent NIL deal might induce him to stay
